Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Acccording to a reporter in Honolulu (who e-mailed me privately about the Hawaiian episodes), Buffy Sainte-Marie signed a release form for Sesame Workshop last year: it allegedly has to do with the cast trip, so I expect a DVD set to cover those shows eventually. If only my reporter friend had...
I saw that episode long ago; it did indeed feel like a precursor to last season's "sad number 0" episode. The Count sang the song about how important 1 was (at least twice); and the 1, like last season's 0, tried to quit its job by becoming other things. As a pogo stick, it couldn't support...
Even though the little Spanish I know is limited to the words I picked up from Sesame Street, I too spotted that "frog" mistake...because I'd heard Kermit called "Rene Rana" on Plaza Sésamo, and knew that the Brazilian version changed Kermit to a toad because of grammar problems. (In...
Episode 4162: ISNorden's review
Most of you have beaten me to reviewing the latest episode, but I'll throw in my own two cents...
The good points:
Excellent street story; Neil Patrick's conceited, whiny shoe fairy ought to win him an Emmy for acting! :) Telly's getting zapped into...
I'd love to work out a trade for a movie file of #2096, myself: Windows Media is best, but I'll take any format I can convert! The files in my own collection are listed in the "Trading Sesame Street Episodes" thread, if anybody's able/willing to make a deal with me. (Paying cash...
I don't mind seeing the classic Muppets on new episodes, but the way some Muppets appear in the "thing of the day" announcements (and little else!) feels like pigeonholing. Yes, Cookie Monster has been eating letters since Episode 1; but that wasn't what he was mainly designed to teach. And yes...
Episode 4161: ISNorden's review
The good points:
Most of the show was brand-new material (I recognized only three older segments, and those were pretty short).
In particular, I'm glad to see new "thing-of-the-day" announcements that didn't involve the usual characters. When was the last time...
Heh, as an older kid I did imagine Muppetized letters and numbers negotiating with CTW for "ad space" on the show...:zany:
Back to the original topic, though: yes, today's Sesame Street may alienate old-school fans simply because the kids who watch it are growing up differently. Family...
My collection as it stands now
Just so anyone who might want to trade, knows what I have available...
Classic episodes (starred numbers indicate a non-Noggin copy):
Seasons 1-3: #1, #8, #43, #54, #83, #131, #158, #162, #179* (black/white, picture poor but watchable), #198, #276, #355...
Since the Count names more emotions than an old-school episode might discuss, I'd agree that the clip is a newer one. I haven't seen it in any regular episodes either, so it might come from a DVD that Sesame Workshop released.
I used to see Elmo as the incarnation of everything that's gone wrong with Sesame Street, until I got hold of some episodes from the late 70s/early 80s. Nowadays, I don't think he's to blame for the changes I dislike; I blame Sesame Workshop's lack of funding, and their increased need to rely on...
I know that Disney doesn't like their employees doing "adults-only" entertainment, and thought that Sesame Workshop might have a similar policy. If my assumption is correct, I'm guessing that Stephanie D'Abruzzo did her Avenue Q work before she signed on with the Workshop...
At the risk of hijacking this thread, I agree that Jim Henson (despite his human limits and flaws) had the right attitude towards many things in life. I won't describe my religious beliefs, since they're irrelevant here. However, trying to keep a Muppet fan forum peaceful and clean definitely...
If only they'd mentioned some of the older co-productions/adaptations; I'm wondering whether Norway's or Sweden's version had an opening theme of its own! :sing:
If anyone out there has recorded Episode 4096 (where Rosita misses her Mexican grandmother), I'm willing to trade for it: although I found one copy on a file-sharing site, the size was SO huge that it would take over a week to download at my machine's speed. :( I can accept the episode as...
You don't need a "My Street" account just to watch the video clips; however, you do need one to save clips to a playlist. I suspect there must be a technical glitch either at your end or at theirs.
