Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Ever since they introduced the Comic Strip Censor, Pastis has used it as an excuse to get even more crap past the radar. Well, enough for a newspaper comic. :D
After watching old episodes a few at a time each day from the beginning, and after a long period of lurking on this forum, I've decided to give some of my thoughts and observations looking back on them.
In "Arthur Goes to Camp", one thing I remember from the book that was left out of the show...
It's even better in the 1st season that aired on commercial TV in syndication: the kids essentially take over an abandoned studio and get away with pirate broadcasting their own network! :D
At least Jim Carrey looks like he's having a blast playing Eggman. So even if the movie is a piece of hot garbage even after Sonic's redesign, he could be the one saving grace, like how M. Bison was in the Street Fighter movie.
JHC sure has gotten their crap together with this show, a far cry from a few years ago where all we had to look forward to were sneakers, credit cards, and a DTV preschool movie. Now I am in the camp that they should buy back the Muppets from Disney, but that's about as likely as them putting...
I'm enjoying the new Podling paladin, Hup. Sounds like he and Deet are going to get along real nice. I also found Chamberlain eating the lock snake more hilarious than I should have (You had one job, lock snake!).
Just got around to watching this show, and it's a really good first episode in terms of establishing the setting and overall plot. And even though I watched TDC again for preparation, it wasn't necessary after all as you can watch AoR with a clean slate. Lots of great puppetry and practical...
It would be nice to see Mister Manny become a semi-recurring character. I like how he seems more involved in the babies' activities compared to Miss Nanny.
Well, Box Office Mojo is now dead. The layout is super awkward to use, and most of the information is locked behind a paywall, and there's no way in Elmo I'm giving Jeff Bezos any more money than he already has. So now I recommend The Numbers.com for all your box office info needs.
Sorry if I...
Looking it up, it actually takes place after the book and follows Sam-I-Am and Guy-Am-I on an adventure to rescue a rare "Chickeraffe" that was liberated from a zoo, all as a girl tries to adopt it and a poacher tries to capture it. No force feeding of green foods down anyone's throats, as far...
The book, Who Censored Roger Rabbit?, was way different from the movie, though it's to the point where Gary Wolf (the author) preferred it and actually wrote a pseudo-sequel based more closely on the movie. For one, it's set in the then-present day and uses comic strip characters, who can create...
Surprised no one else has picked up on this until now, but Ronnie Anne's grandmother who is most prominently seen in the spin-off The Casagrandes is voiced by our very own Sonia Manzano! Nice to see she has a steady career after departing from SSt.
Now here's a clip of Mister Rogers getting upset over a puzzle he was about to solve after Mr. McFeely takes it away. It's pretty amusing seeing him get so upset (well, upset for his standards, anyway), but even more so is of McFeely, which during these early years was always in a hurry and...
One thing I just noticed: You know how in season 3 of Franklin, his best friend Bear starts wearing a snazzy blue vest out of nowhere? Maybe that was done to distinguish him from Little Bear.
Muppets Now seems promising with its short-form format. Kinda disappointed that they're not continuing where the muppets. left us hanging, but I can see why Disney would do something low-risk like this. Either way, it's great that Disney's doing something new with the Muppet characters. :)
