Y'know, it's not really a Lisa letter. It's from Brian and Lisa, the co-chairs and co-CEOs, and Peter Schube, the Prez and COO. So it's from the top 3 big shots at JHC.

Yeah, he said a few months ago that Roy Disney and Stanley Gold were making their own "Rainbow Connection" with the Henson family or something like that. :smirk:
But true, half-true or neither, they're still entertaining articles.
I would love to see more Mickey. I wish ABC/Disney Channel/Toon Disney would continue making episodes of House of Mouse. But they are releasing "The Three Musketeers" and the CGI "Mickey's Twice Upon A Christmas" for video and DVD this year, and that's a good start.
Mickey Muppet: BoyRaisin2...
Yeah, Disney should have held out for the Fraggles. FR would be ideal for Playhouse Disney.
More seriously, I would really love to know how those negotiations went. I mean in those six months of talks, how and when did Henson come to that final decision to sell their core franchise to...
They're DISNEY. Mickey Mouse is THEIR character for God's sake. He's the icon. We know! Does not mean the Muppets won't get their exposure, which is the POINT of this deal. It's not a popularity contest between Mickey Mouse and Kermit the Frog, both characters Disney will own 100%. So there is...
Here's what Disney SHOULD do. Since the term "Disney's Muppets" (or even Jim Henson's Muppets) would mostly be used in the realm of merchandising, they should just let the Muppet and Bear logos stand on their own, and put the Disney Consumer Products logo in the corner somewhere, much like...
my 900th message
Man, this stinks. The only problem I'd have with a Disney/Muppet union is if they'd call them "Disney's Muppets." I know they can't use the "Jim Henson" brand name, but gees, just call them "The Muppets." We know who they are.
I'm not usually for petitions, but...
Agreed. If they actually bought the Henson Co., they would technically still be branded "Jim Henson's Muppets," for the Muppet characters would still be under the Jim Henson unit of Disney. But since they're buying the characters, they would have every right to brand them as "Disney's Muppets."...
True. If they wanted to follow Jim's dream to unite the Henson Co. with Disney, they should have done that in 2000 instead of falling into the arms of the Germans for $680 million. But live and let live.
Here's an email I got from fanmail@henson.com
It answers NOTHING and looks like one of those "automated response" things, but hey, it's nicely structured. Enjoy.
Dear Boy Raisin,
Thank you for your email about the recent agreement between The Jim Henson Company and The Walt Disney...
OK, Jim was not an SOB, but you know the term.
Secondly, I know the Joan Ganz Cooney quote. It's been in an article here on MC for years. I'm sure Jim had his reservations, and the 1989/90 deal did have its drawbacks I'm sure. It does not mean he was backing out on the deal and it was headed...
And Mark, Jim Henson was a rich (or richer) S.O.B. too, and he was selling to Disney for way more money than what his kids are getting. Does that make him a greedy man as well? No. Not everyone who has money or makes a business deal you don't like is a horrible person.
Also, the Henson family...
Thank you. So I can understand, does "the Henson company's ownership of all other Muppet movies" means Henson's STAKE in MTM and MFS? Because Sony is the owner of those two movies and the other four are/will be in Disney control.
BTW, I called JHC's LA office today and the woman on the phone...
Henson hasn't done anything with the Fraggles in over a decade. It's a classic show, but not a very active franchise. But if Henson plans on changing that, good for them.
