The former AOL Time Warner doesn't need to buy Disney. They're both identical. They both have movie studios, networks, etc. That's just getting two media giants at the price of one.
But I don't think it's serious, Time Warner has its own problems. And they already house Bugs Bunny...
I don't care if they make R-rated movies, just as long as the family programming is still up to the old Disney standard, instead of the new Disney standard which seems to be the price of creativity is worth a few extra dollars in the video store.
I agree with just about everything you said. But the Muppets still have game, and if they have a good idea (like the NBC movie) and the right financial backer (Disney!), they'll be fine. There's obviously still Muppet lovers out there, with the success of all the merchandise that has come out in...
Well, I don't know how far this will go, but this is some big news.
One thing I admire about Disney, as a corporation, is that they are the only classic movie studio (as far as I know) to not be merged into another company. Unlike Warner, Fox, and others, Disney itself evolved into the media...
And CNBC said Comcast was reaching out to Pixar (whatever that means). I wish I could see the news conference on their website, but it ain't working for me.
It is interesting. Usually, you hear about two companies making a joint statement, but Comcast is going all out...they even have a slide show on their web site!
We'll see if all this talk amounts to anything.
