LOL, you have them down perfectly! And you're absolutely right, Thundercats really did make the effort to get real life messages across that were relevant for ordinary kids, despite taking place in such an extraordinary situation. And another nice thing was that the grown ups on the show...
You know all this publicity about the new Thundercats cartoon lead me to revisit the old episodes the other day. My friend and I were wondering why Thundercats never seemed to have those "very special message" segments at the end of the episodes, the way He-Man and G.I. Joe did. Then again, what...
I've always liked Boober, I tend to like characters with that kind of frustrated, wry sense of humor, hehe.
I used to think Gobo was boring and too perfect, but I really enjoy his early episodes when he's young and still learning to be brave. : )
Well again I'm not saying Palin doesn't deserve it at all. I'm saying it's gone way too far to the realm of cruelty and it only makes her hardcore attackers look unreasonably obsessed, which doesn't make them look good come election time.
Sarah Palin does a little bit, but not to the extent that people have taken it. And her children shouldn't be targets, period.
But that's the end of my political rant for the day, lol. I'm an independent after all. ;)
There is definitely a double standard there. I don't agree with Sarah Palin politically but the way she and her children have been treated is cruel and bullying, plain and simple. It's like we never left the school playground.
Yeah, I've heard things like that too. People are unfortunately using the Bible to justify the worst of Capitalism. No offence to your family member, but I'm seeing that a lot lately and it's a shame.
Well that is part of the reason why some Christian groups don't take the Bible literally...
Jim Henson was definitely one of those TV father figures growing up. Everyone my age knew who he was, which is pretty unusual for children's programming (the exception being Walt Disney). I love the fact that he trusted kids to understand and learn about the work that went into the Muppets...
But the idea of the Gospels is that Jesus contradicts polygamy, female subservience and slavery. So in fact the Bible is not promoting prejudice. I know Jesus doesn't specifically mention homosexuality in the Bible, but that doesn't mean he never did. And he would certainly reject condemnation...
I think you've got it; there's a difference between forgiveness and trust. Forgiveness is something we give to the sinner out of mercy and compassion for human life, regardless if they deserve it. But that doesn't mean they automatically earn back our trust without any sign that they have changed.
I did watch both He-Man and Thundercats, but probably the latter a bit more. They used to let us watch Thundercats in Pre-K during naptime, lol! Ahh, good times. : D
I've only seen a little but he didn't seem that different to be honest, lol.
But I'm sorry all I could think about when watching the 2002 version was "Um, that's not He-Man, that's Leonardo from the Ninja Turtles!" :insatiable:
Glad you liked it! (both things, hehe). And it's a great example of how children's shows shouldn't be afraid to introduce kids to more grown up and cultural things. It will pay off later in life. ;)
Wow...I actually had a dream about Thunder Cats last night. Disturbingly not my first one...but in this one they were reinacting an episode of Star Trek Voyager for some reason...:concern:
