Yeah those kinds of shows are definitely my guilty pleasure, lol. I was sad when Monster Quest was canceled (though I think they pretty much ran out of ideas, lol). I don't really believe much of this stuff, but it's just fun to suspend disbelief for awhile. :)
Well so far I don't get the impression this became a huge news story. Mainly because Fraggle Rock isn't a popular current show like Teletubbies or Sesame Street (which also got in trouble for alleged bad words).
It's interesting how the father said if there's nothing wrong with the clip, why are they editing it? By editing it, they're making themselves look guilty. It's like when people are payed huge sums of money in court cases. It doesn't always mean a crime was actually committed. Sometimes it just...
I think these kinds of complaints, if they happen, often come from a relatively small handful of people. Most people are too busy with their lives to freak out over a TV show. But because the networks freak out so much, the complaints appear bigger than they are.
Well it is pretty much the left who fuels this stuff. ;) Not all the left, but when it comes up, it's overwhelming from left people. (And please don't start telling me why the right is also bad, I know it is. ;) )
And no offense but the attempt to name it something supposedly neutral is kind of...
I disagree; this is the definition of political correctness. People obsessing over nonsense and in the process attacking good things, instead of going after actual racism.
People often lack a backbone when faced with political correctness. And then they wonder why their attempts at "fixing"...
Disney wasn't all that progressive in that regard back then, heh.
Well nearly all groups were made fun of. Vaudeville had dialect comedians making fun of immigrants. But obviously black face had a much more degrading connotation.
Wow....just...wow.
How has political correctness helped society again?
Clearly these parents aren't that familiar with the show. They're acting like the company is only "claiming" that the character's name is Gobo. Sheesh, it's not like this is a new show!
Someday this little girl is going to...
That's so sweet, I still remember watching MFC with my parents when it first aired. To see so many Muppets together at once was just incredible. :)
I swear when I used to play "getting married" with my Barbie and Ken's, I used Kermit and Piggy's wedding as a basis, lol.
Strange, when I click on the link above, the page is blank. But when I go to the Wiki and type in "Muppets 2011" and go to the page, that "DIBBLE" weirdness comes up!
That's great, good for you! I mean it will be great if this new movie introduces kids to the Muppets, but ideally I hope it could also lead to more exposure of the original movies.
Well I can't complain about Billy Crystal, he's consistently delivered. Though I think it's sad that our pop culture apparently has such a limited selection nowadays, heh.
