    Kids' shows nowadays

Well it depends on your point of view. I didn't think the scenes that were deleted made a huge difference to the movie. But I did think the ::sigh:: "fart shoes" joke was a sad example of studio mandated humor and lazy writing, which has no place in a Muppets film.

    Kids' shows nowadays

Yeah the one good thing is that it was mercifully brief, lol.

That wasn't so much rude humor as it was non-humor. ;)

    Kids' shows nowadays

Which is funny because back when it first premiered, The Simpsons was blasted for being the worst role models for kids on TV. But suddenly nowadays, they're considered tame. I wouldn't recommend kids repeat what they hear on these shows in public. But I wouldn't just say they couldn't watch them.

    Kids' shows nowadays

I'm just very suspicious of studies like that. Not that I'm defending Reality TV (heh) but there's so many other real life factors for why society goes down hill. I was actually talking about this with a non-American on the Web the other day. He/she thought TV was used to brainwash people in...

    Uh...that's WHAT,Telly?

Oh this is funny...here I am defending the use of the word lame and not two seconds ago, someone on another message board tells me my opinion on something is "kind of...lame." Oh man, was I annoyed! Lol. So yeah I'll admit, it's not fun getting told that. But I still say I don't think it's...

    Kids' shows nowadays

A ratings system on Television doesn't make much sense anyway. I mean with movies or video games, parents want to be able to judge something before they pay for it, and that's where the ratings system comes in. That at least makes some sense. But with Television you're not paying to see every...

    Uh...that's WHAT,Telly?

Just to clarify, "lame" can be used as a slang term, but not always. If you say "lame" to mean "lacking in desirable substance" that is not slang. But if we are talking about slang, I do think it's a shame Roosevelt Franklin got the boot in part because of the slang he used. I didn't grow up...

    Uh...that's WHAT,Telly?

Ugh, lol. Sorry you had to go through that. But yeah I mean in general I think that's how far a parent's influence should go. Lay down the law for kids themselves rather than expecting TV shows to always agree with them.

    Kids' shows nowadays

It's funny because I certainly would also say I respond better to shows with intelligent writing and that's why I like Spongebob, lol. Different strokes I guess. ;) Well yeah that happens with anything that's successful. Oh yes God knows we wouldn't want their fragile little egg shell minds...

    Kids' shows nowadays

I always feel like Spongebob must have had one really amazing experience at the Krusty Krab as a child, lol, and he carried it with him his whole life to the extreme. So he doesn't see what a dump it is or how unfair Mr. Krabs can be; he just sees the warm feelings he associates with it and what...

Yeah I get you, there's a different between teasing among friends and actual bullying. Oh I know and you explained it very well btw. :)

Gotcha. :) I don't know, all I can think of is how Are You Afraid of the Dark? was rated Y7 and that show (while I liked it) was NEVER scary, lol.

    Kids' shows nowadays

Oh yeah I'm first to admit, lol. I just love how Spongebob really is this example of a free spirit who knows what he likes and doesn't care how weird it is. Plus he's a young adult getting his first dream job and trying to get his license, something you rarely see on kid's shows. I think young...

    Uh...that's WHAT,Telly?

Yeah but life won't always be like that. The Peanuts were very aware of this and weren't afraid to show Charlie Brown occasionally being bullied and show how he dealt with it. It made me feel better knowing that a character I admired was also going through the same pain I was yet was persevering.

    Uh...that's WHAT,Telly?

Yeah I did think Telly was a very intriguing character when he was Oscar's suffering sidekick, lol. Nowadays the characters on Sesame Street are pretty much just happy all the time and not much else. It goes back to the '90s when they tried to be like Barney.

    Uh...that's WHAT,Telly?

It can be considered a little snotty. But I hesitate to put a muzzle on kid's shows because ultimately that's what ruins them. It's the parent's job to tell their own kids "Don't say that. It will hurt someone's feelings. And if you do, you will be punished."

I can't picture the original version of Telly saying it, but the more recent one, yes.

    My New Fascination with Muppets!

I have noticed people online saying they immediately went to watch The Muppet Movie for the first time after seeing The Muppets (2011), which is awesome, exactly what I hoped would happen from this new film. :)
