New Sesame Street cast member with nose ring

It just shows that what's offensive and strange is often in the eye of the beholder. ;) There is no logical reason why ear piercing is more acceptable than nose piercing, but that's just how the pop culture has formed in the US. Other countries can have different norms.

    Non Sequitur

Remember how Tracy Ullman used to end her show by telling everyone to "Go home!" I knew someone who tried that joke at a public event and it just crashed and burned, lol. So yeah sometimes humor just doesn't translate. It's also still available on VHS from Amazon. I bought all three, lol.

Oh yeah you could be absolutely right. Or Dr. Tooth could be right and he just executed a very poor attempt at humor. Annoyingly we may never know, heh. Still I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Thanks! Yeah me too, I adored Adventures in Wonderland. I learned what an oxymoron was...

You're right, I should try that solution more often, lol.

I think DrTooth has a point, he could have just been trying to be funny. I've seen that kind of thing before. That sort of humor is very difficult to pull off but a lot of people try, lol.

Well I assume some of the female cast members have had ear piercings over the years, hehe.

For Crying Out Loud, What is Wrong With You People?

Yeah Guiliani cleaned up the tourist attraction but the other New York boroughs remain in dire need. Law enforcement does need to be worked on, but the underlying cause of the problem is poverty, which is caused by "the man." I'm the kind of progressive that says the death penalty has no place...

For Crying Out Loud, What is Wrong With You People?

Um well I'm staunchly against the death penalty and for that many people criticize me for being too progressive. ;) What about an accident through drug fueled negligence? Plus you can't guarantee an addict could never become violent (though of course you can't arrest someone before they do...

Yeah that was my first thought too, lol. The guy probably gets a lot of weirdo mail (especially if he displays his email like that) so he's likely been burned before. And some artists are just very touchy about their work. Talent does not necessarily equal people skills, hehe. But yeah of...

Well I believe nose piercing is pretty popular in Indian culture; that would make sense.

The website WorldCat.org lets you type in an item (like National Geographic) and shows you all the libraries in and out of the US that have copies. You could see if there's any close to you. Or contact a library and ask what their policy is for sending you scans of archive issues.

For Crying Out Loud, What is Wrong With You People?

It's more for the sake of innocent people that addicts are put away. Addicts are capable of hurting people in the most devastating and often deadly ways, even if they don't mean to. People go into drug treatment centers all the time, over and over again in fact because relapses are very common...

    Dealing with depression and anxiety

Young people living at home is going to become increasingly more common in the near future and people have to get used to it and stop pretending we're not in a recession. ;) So no, you're not a failure. :)

    Dealing with depression and anxiety

I get what you're saying, that there's a lot of stress creating stuff going on right now in society. But I'm also a strong believer in not telling these things dictate your thoughts, despite their presence, you know?

    Dealing with depression and anxiety

I can definitely identify with that. I do rush to my friends too often when I'm worried or depressed. I need to make a point of communicating with them about good things as well. Like today I was just completely overwhelmed with anxiety and it was totally uncalled for but I just couldn't escape it.

In those cases it just depends on how the hate manifests itself. I have really close friends who hate things I like, but we can joke about it.

I mean what will we say to the addict's families. As in, "I'm sorry your husband/wife has yet again hit your children or stolen your money to get his/her fix again, but we've given up. Good luck!"
