It just shows that what's offensive and strange is often in the eye of the beholder. ;) There is no logical reason why ear piercing is more acceptable than nose piercing, but that's just how the pop culture has formed in the US. Other countries can have different norms.

I can definitely identify with that. I do rush to my friends too often when I'm worried or depressed. I need to make a point of communicating with them about good things as well. Like today I was just completely overwhelmed with anxiety and it was totally uncalled for but I just couldn't escape it.

In those cases it just depends on how the hate manifests itself. I have really close friends who hate things I like, but we can joke about it.

I mean what will we say to the addict's families. As in, "I'm sorry your husband/wife has yet again hit your children or stolen your money to get his/her fix again, but we've given up. Good luck!"
