What year did it all change for the worst?

Sure, that definitely could have played a part as well. And if so, just say that. The way they presented it I thought they overstepped their bounds. If parents wants their kids to enjoy and learn from the classic episodes that's their choice and they shouldn't be given this vague...

What year did it all change for the worst?

The first two Old Schools DVD sets had the disclaimer "These early Sesame Street episodes are intended for grownups and may not suit the needs of today's preschool child." Thankfully they seemed to realize it was ridiculous (or at least that it was annoying fans, lol) so they removed it from the...

What year did it all change for the worst?

Well the topics themselves may be complex but I question the execution of the current show. Just my opinion. ;)

Yeah that was pretty sick. Thankfully it didn't last too long.

What year did it all change for the worst?

I can't go along with the myth that the older episodes aren't educational anymore (i.e. that insulting Old School DVD disclaimer). It's nonsense. Sesame Street changed its style because Barney was beating it in merchandise back in the '90s. Period. It had nothing to do with education.

    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Thread

And they would be wrong, as the 80s/90s cartoon and films had actual humor and nuanced characters, which seems to be beyond Bay, lol. At best, Bay is a necessary evil because his movies drum up publicity for franchises. But he is never getting my money, as I have zero faith in him as a...

    Vicarious Mother

I actually feel like people really misunderstand the lure of McDonald's. As a kid I didn't eat the food just so I could get the toy. I ate the food because it tasted good. The toy was part of the whole package and experience. And there is no "trick." Junk food just tastes better. I get just as...

    Vicarious Mother

Well I remember 4th grade was when we started writing about current events in class and kids were actually starting to express opinions on issues and politics. However, looking back it was pretty clear that everyone was just echoing their parents' views, lol. Still, it has to start somewhere I...

Silly things you said, did, or thought as a kid

You're right, I guess that's why they couldn't make exceptions. Still you should be able to tell the difference between not knowing how to spell a word and just making a typo.

Silly things you said, did, or thought as a kid

That doesn't seem very fair. You clearly knew how to spell it, you just accidentally inverted letters. I hated when teachers were so black and white about those things, lol.

Weekly Box Office and Film Discussion Thread

Well they wouldn't be doing it if people weren't buying. That's the name of the game. And frankly I'm just as tired of the cliche independent girl who "wants more." Lol. The original Disney princesses (Snow White, Cinderella) were strong because they remained good person in the face of abuse...

Pre-Order "The Muppet Movie" coming to Blu-ray August 13, 2013

Sure absolutely, I'm glad nearly everyone's on there. My only gripe is it just looks like such a thrown together mess, when the original poster was actual artwork. Ah well, the economy's hitting everything I guess, lol.

Weekly Box Office and Film Discussion Thread

Just saw it as well. I do enjoy the characters a lot more this time around. Last time I thought Spock was totally wrong, but he's improved a lot. It helps that he's finally able to bounce off Kirk. Still, I don't think the actors were serviced well by the script. Story wise, there was very...

    Hey Arnold!

I definitely watched Hey Arnold! back in the day. Yeah even then I was surprised at how open they were about how dysfunctional Helga's family was, lol.

I agree, the Muppet Movie cover is miserable looking, lol. That Fraggle one isn't too bad, I like it, but I see what you mean about consistency, etc.

Golden Globes - What's the Point?

And it's not like they command a great deal of respect. Remember when Homer Simposon won a music award? "Oh wow! An award statue! Ya...oh it's a Grammy..." :sigh: LOL
