I'm sorry guys, don't hate me, but I love how they were desperately trying to get the kid to like Elmo, lol. I mean sheesh, maybe the kid's an Oscar fan, leave him be! Lol :grouchy:
That said, Ryan did a very good job with the character. :)
If they have the skill to be there then I don't mind (Ed Wynn for instance had a very distinctive character voice. Many comedians did as they had to work in radio). But when it's purely for getting people in the seats it's just typical Hollywood elitist nonsense.
Comedians have often historically done voice work for cartoons. It makes sense in that they're good with comedic timing and have quirky or strong voices. I personally think voice acting is a good opportunity to put a more "human" face on such performers and show that underneath the naughty jokes...
Well there's no point in being mean of course but I will say if they were going to do a new movie with the three original actors they really should have done it a few years ago. People do get older.
If you're getting a chance to work with professional equipment I would definitely take it. That kind of experience is invaluable. Opportunities like this don't come along every day and I wouldn't take them for granted. You can't afford to be picky when you're starting out.
