Oh I definitely agree with that, it's fascinating to see how a TV show or movie mirrors the period it came from.
I'm embarrassed to say I liked that movie as a kid, lol. Yes, I remember the McD's scene. Hey, sometimes product placements help make a world more realistic! Lol
I know, most of them are pretty mindless. I know I might be a bit bias but kids films of 20 or 30 years ago did take more chances. That's just a fact. Then later I think in general parents got too paranoid and companies realized they could save money on creativity, lol.
Eventually there will be...
Definitely and that's always been true of the Muppets in general. They were very up to the minute regarding pop culture, the flip side of that being you will soon find yourself dated, lol.
Still, the Muppet humor that was rooted in Vaudeville was definitely timeless and I wish SS would go back...
Even as a kid I was hugely disappointed by that, lol. They built up their relationship so much and Danny was finally not going to be alone anymore. But no! Nevermind, Vicki's got a new job! Back to the status quo! :p
I've been oddly lucky, when I watch any Muppets with friends they usually know their stuff pretty well. Of course they know they probably can't compete with my obsessive knowledge, lol. ;)
Well remember this was 1981, those movies probably weren't officially considered classics yet. In contrast The Golden Age of Hollywood of the 30s and 40s had achieved iconic status.
I don't think people are upset that the voice sounds physically different. It's deeper than that. I remember an interview with some of the original Disney animators saying that changing a voice makes a different personality. It would be like if you or I suddenly had different voices. Even if an...
My friend and I were in Time Square yesterday and this Elmo mascot walked up to us in this creepy high voice going, "Hey I'm Elmo, want a hug?!" We promptly said, "No thanks!" and walked away, lol.
Ironically, it's the carnival cameos like Pryor and Hope's that I enjoy the most, lol. Even if they were short, they perfectly demonstrated why these guys were funny. :)
Well no offense but just because your friendship was strained doesn't mean you shouldn't have told her. It's important for you to look after a friend, whether she appreciated it or not. :)
Sometimes the only way people realize how far they've fallen is when friends start exiting their lives...
"Just the same old heroine!" Lol
I mean that's typical of Disney to do a mix match with history. Usually I don't mind because it's just a movie but with Pocahontas I remember they kept insisting they were trying to be accurate, and it just wasn't true.
I admit, I watched Captain Planet all...
Well when I said PC I mean how cardboard the characters are. The Europeans are bad and kill the planet, the Native Americans are good and love the planet. I'm sorry but the Native Americans cut down trees too, heh. They ate meat the same as Europeans (yes they respected the animal more, but many...
Yeah don't you hate it when people sing about you behind your back? In harmony and everything, arghgh!
If they had gone in that direction with Toy Story it would have been that much easier for the Henson Company to claim plagarism, lol.
And yeah even as a kid I thought it was odd that...
You can definitely tell when a writer has particular affection for a character.
I remember the episode where Camilla got attacked by the vacumn cleaner, I literally ran to my Mom crying, I felt so bad for Gonzo. I kept asking her for reassurance that everything would be OK at the end (I was...
