I am also wondering if maybe this segment was on the infamous "Wicked Witch of the West" episode from 1976? The segment probably did exist back then, and it could have been added to compliment the fear curriculum.
That segment sure was freaky. Good thing I didn't see it when I was watching the show in the early 1990s. I think it was still rerun quite a bit until the end of the "Around the Corner" era.
I feature it in my YouTube Poop of "A Muppet Family Christmas," with the sound of a crowd gasping when it...
I'm not sure. The show has always been experimental. Heck, you compare an episode from 1987 with an episode from 1971 and you're gonna notice several differences!
But as for a year when they really changed, I'm gonna have to go with 1993. By this point, they had to compete with Barney, hence...
Rare early Elmo's World segment about public transportation...
Since when do jet planes have Model-T horns?
(Also note David Rudman's voice for said plane; very similar to his Scooter voice!) ;)
Exactly. I recently had this Sesame Street News segment make its YouTube debut:
As long as it's just a segment and not a full episode that may be OK...
They did that at the start of the parade, at least. Previously we'd get "The cast of Sesame Street... and the Muppets!" That caused major confusion on my brother...
So does our dad. He wants us to have Thanksgiving breakfast at a certain planned time, as if he knows what's going to happen on the parade then! He's made me miss the Sesame Street float from 2008 to 2010!
Oh yeah, and again they played the 1992-2006 Sesame Street credits theme when announcing the Sesame Street float. I guess they aren't going to update it for a LONG time...
When the Pikachu balloon was on, again they played the original Pokemon theme. Even with over 600 Pokemon now, that theme...
Sesame Street float is on right now! Elmo and Abby Cadabby are in the nest with Big Bird. Bob's on the float with them, looking as active as he has since the early 1990s, and Murray Monster got a solo too!
Ack, make that TWO solos!
So does my dad, even though he doesn't like the cheesy musical numbers either. And like I said, they didn't bother to say much about the balloons during the parade intro...
At least we already ate breakfast so I can't miss the Sesame Street float like my parents would usually make us in the past...
That's how I feel too! They should just get rid of the balloons and call it "The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Musical Numbers!"
And that same marching band rendition of Frank Sinatra's "New York New York" to kick off the start of the parade. I prefer THIS version:
The opening of the parade just said "The cast of Sesame Street." No adding "...and the Muppets!" to cause confusion!
And then there was practically NO MENTION of the balloons, just "World's Greatest Character Balloons." Like I said, the balloons are becoming an incredibly minor side event in...
I did a YouTube Poop of "A Muppet Family Christmas" in memory of Jerry Nelson, too (in addition to that tribute in August.)
You guys are getting a special unlisted preview of it. It's going public this Friday (in honor of Black Friday.)
Makes sense. Though usually that original Pokemon theme song would kind of be more associated with back when we only had 150 Pokemon, like this board game (I had this!)
Believe it or not, they STILL use the 1992-2006 Sesame Street closing theme whenever announcing the Sesame Street float. I guess they had no idea that the credits theme has been replaced since 2007...
I also recall when they have the Pikachu balloon, they use the old 1998 Pokemon theme...
