Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Season 3

Small error on my behalf in last post - Muppet Movie began production in Summer 1978, hence the hiatus that occurs during production of TMS Season Three. Re-read copy of Christopher Finch's Jim Henson: The Works book. Sorry about that.

TMS Season 4 Bonus Feature Thoughts

Of Muppets & Men should be left until Season Five. The 60 Minutes report would be good. I would ignore some of those other specials though - ideally we want things that are relevant to TMS.

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Season 3

Some answers to the queries about the order: The episodes are being presented in production code order - each show was assigned a number from 1 - 120 (if you've read Of Muppets & Men you'll know that Linda Ronstadt's was show 119). One of the key reasons for discrepancies in character...

    What's the Banana Sketch?

As Bill points, the whole joke was never told onscreen. All we know is that these two bananas are walking down and the street and one of them says to the other...

Sweetums appearances on "The Muppet Show"

No he doesn't; the Muppets that appear that number are the Woodland creatures from "For What It's Worth", the Woodpecker, Fozzie, Scooter, Rowlf, Robin, Kermit and Beauregard. Gonzo appears onstage in the goodnight, so it's possible that he may have been in that number as well (albeit in...

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Season 3

Couple of points: 1. I think having chapter points for each section only is a smart move rather than having them for *every* sketch/song. If you look at most archive television on DVD, they do the same thing with chapter points. I think it would be too clumsy trying to have chapter points...

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Season 3

There is a repeat, but it was intentional.

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Season 3

It was the closing shot of Zoot I was referring to, so technically the set isn't "uncut".

Your Thoughts: The Muppet Show Season 3

Don't ask me when it comes out Region 4 'cause I don't know (I'm guessing July/August). In the meantime a couple of questions: 1. Which version(s) of the end credits are used on the set? 2. Am I right in assuming that the original end shots from the Harry Belafonte, Loretta Lynn and Roger...

Ummm...why would there be Muppet talk show appearances soon?

Your thoughtss on Disney owning The Muppets

It's simple - the Muppets just aren't as popular as they were in the 1970's. Yes, they have a very large fanbase and people have nostalgic memories of TMS etc BUT at the end of the day that's about as far as it goes. The real problem is that television networks rarely schedule shows like TMS...

Why didn't Jim Henson have any writing credits in the first three Muppet movies?

Jim Henson is credited as writer on all 120 episodes of TMS, so I don't know where you got six from (probably IMDB). Nevertheless, Jerry Juhl was the Muppets' head writer so it naturally would have been his job to come up with the screenplay.

Your Feedback: Muppet Central Radio on Live365

Noticed a possible mistake - the LP version of "Lady of Spain" was played on MC Radio a couple of minutes ago. This was billed as simply "Lady of Spain", but the actual track listing as given on the back cover of the LP is Marvin Suggs and His Muppaphone Play "Lady of Spain".

    longer music numbers

The reason they seem slow is because...well, they *are* slow; by that I mean that their tempos are slow. Belafonte is more of a calypso-style singer, so his songs are always going to be more slower and ballad-like than some of the more contemporary songs that were being recorded at the time...

Muppet Musicians Of Bremen On Dvd!

The cover is (probably) the clincher - they've simply re-used the cover of (I think) the very first VHS release of this story.

Your Feedback: Muppet Central Radio on Live365

Spotted another mistake with regards to the titles of songs. You've just been playing Miss Piggy singing "On a Slow Boat to China" from the Roger Moore episode of TMS. According to Wikipedia, the full title is "(I'd Like to Get You on a) Slow Boat to China".

More Stuff You Might Have Missed!

That doesn't mean anything; it wasn't uncommon for performers to play other characters even if they didn't voice them in that particular song or sketch.

    Kermit name origin

Actually *both* of those are myths. The exact reason why Jim gave his most famous Muppet that name are not entirely clear. Read the entry on Muppet Wiki for more info.

    Muppet Morsels

The episode cuts had nothing to do with budgetting issues and certainly had no connection with the Morsels either - I'm uncertain as to where you got that idea from. As for them being irrelevant and not being on topic, that's also wrong as they pointed out the origins of the various jokes...
