Months later and GeeBee is still singing the same old song and dance. Gee, what a surprise.
Yes, GeeBee. You've only told us this how many thousand times in the past? I've said it before and I'll say it again -- this is YOUR opinion. The fact that you believe it so strongly...
Neither have I!
I didn't bother taping this because I already got it when Prime here in Canada started airing classic SNL last August. They showed edited hour-long episodes, so I wasn't very optimistic at first. I expected they would probably show the episode where Scred and Lily Tomlin sing...
I hate to sound like negative neddy, but I seriously doubt that will have any effect. Email/letter campaigns like this generally don't work and are a waste of time and effort, particularly when you're dealing with a network like Disney.
I don't remember that one, but I do remember one like it. It was a bilingual cartoon of a guy crawling on his hands and knees in a desert looking for some "agua". He eventually comes to a guy who has some water, who offers him some. He says "Gracias", takes the glass of water and pours it on his...
Well today (Friday) they showed the Richard Pryor episode and the Gorch skit was the one where Ploobis and Scred get drunk and insult the Mighty Favog. It was the funniest one I've seen yet. Though they skipped over a few episodes. Either that or Prime just isn't showing them in the exact...
I got that one too -- and in it's entirety, to boot. The TP site says they usually cut out the intro with Ploobis and Peuta searching Scred's crater hole. It was nice that Prime left that in, even if it's not very funny. A nice little bonus which makes what they did the day before *slightly*...
OK, today I'm angry. It had to happen eventually and today it did:they showed the Rob Reiner episode with the "Crater Head" skit cut out. But that's not why I'm mad. I'm mad because the opening credits mentioned "Jim Henson's Muppets", just like they did yesterday and the day before AND I WASTED...
Well, there's good news and there's bad news:
The bad news is that, Prime is showing edited hour long episodes of SNL.
Now for the good news...I got the first of the Gorch skits on tape!! :D It looks like they're showing them in chronological order -- they showed the first episode with...
Buck Beaver is right. But it wasn't only the writers who hated them. Most of the cast also didn't like them (with the possible exceptions of Gilda Radner and Chevy Chase) particularly John Belushi, who is said to have called them "the mucking fuppets" I read an online interview with Frank Oz...
There WAS talk about a year ago of plans for a new Muppet series to air on Fox, but that was before the Disney deal, which didn't seem inevitable at the time. So whatever plans there were would have been shelved. And a TV series under Disney doesn't look too likely. At least not at this point.
Well I didn't mean to imply that we'd never see classic SS again. What I meant was that I doubted that SW would release every episode of SS over the past 35 years in DVD box sets of every season, as some people in this thread suggested. I also thought any channel that might carry classic SS...
I have to disagree with this. Jim Henson knew the dangers inherent if Disney had owned rights to the Sesame Street characters, and before he died he promised SW (then CTW) that they would be exempt no matter what the deal. And as far as having creative control over projects...doesn't Henson have...
This is like comparing apples and oranges. "Vintage Disney" consists of a (relatively) small number of movies, short films and TV specials -- not a TV series that has spanned more than three decades with episodes numbering in the thousands, as is the case with Sesame Street. Rest assured that...
This is great news indeed. I'm definitely buying a copy and I would strongly encourage all Muppet fans to do the same. Buy buying this DVD, not only are we adding to our collection of classic Muppet material, but we're sending a message to the Henson company, thus increasing the likliehood that...
