Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 36

Is this only for the movies? What about certain episodes of TMS? Big Bird was once a guest along with Leslie Uggams in season 2. And a number of them made a surprise cameo in the Marty Feldman episode during season 5. Also Ernie and Bert are said to have appeared in on one show, but I never saw...

Grover on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" this Monday

You're not talking about the first episode from November 1969, are you? Not to nitpick, but that's not the same thing as a pilot and lot of people confuse the two. IIRC, there were actually a few pilot/test shows for Sesame Street, and the Muppets were only a small part of it. (They only had...

Grover on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" this Monday

When a bunch of them were on The West Wing last year, it was the first time any of the SS Muppets were on a prime time show -- unless you count the occasional cameo on The Muppet Show. :smirk:

Muppet Show DVD season box sets announced

But better late than never!! This is fantastic news! I haven't seen an episode of the original Muppet Show in more than 15 years! :excited: :D :)

    Possible Gorch appearance tonight

The closest thing to a reference to the Muppets on this was during a montage of old black and white photos during someone's narration; one of them was a picture of Jerry Nelson puppeteering Scred. But that was it.

Questions we may never know the answer

I would say your memory is probably playing tricks on you. If it's from the early 80s as you say, it's unlikely that it would have been Kermit. In the early years of the show Jim Henson's characters, like Kermit and Ernie did appear often in street scenes, but from the mid 70s onward, when The...

    VCR ALERT: Gorch on NBC

Well that's one more Gorch skit to my collection, bringing them to a grand total of nine. That one was pretty funny. Wissz sounds like Scooter, only a few octaves lower.

    VCR ALERT: Gorch on NBC

Awesome! :) That was one I didn't get from the Prime re-runs! (They showed the episode, but the skit was cut.) This is one I REALLY want to see! :excited:

    Possible Gorch appearance tonight

I taped this last night and I'm watching it right now. They're starting to talk about season two. No mention of the Muppets at all -- just like most of the books on SNL.

Why is Sesame Street slowly dying?

It's not that it was the only kids show on TV, but it certainly was recognized as being a cut above all the rest in terms of popularity, even ahead of shows like Captain Kangaroo, Mister Rogers, and even The Electric Company, which was also a CTW production. (Note that I'm only dealing with kids...

Why is Sesame Street slowly dying?

Well if you don't watch it, then how can you say it's quality isn't good?! And you keep telling me, "If you don't like my opinion, don't read it." Umm...it's not that simple. I like reading and posting in the discussion threads here and if I want to do that there's no way I can...

Why is Sesame Street slowly dying?

I agree. And I would also add the tired old "are Ernie and Bert gay" question to that list. It's as old as the hills and no longer funny or original. BTW, I hope you didn't mind my bumping up that other thread in the classic SS forum and using part of your quote for my own purposes. I did it...

*applause* Well said, Drtooth! I couldn't have said it better myself!

Why is Sesame Street slowly dying?

Yeah, as opposed to some people who do nothing but post fifty million times to complain that a kids show doesn't meet their selfish standards and expectations.

Why is Sesame Street slowly dying?

The things I channel my energy into are causes that I feel passionate about, like art and politics, and issues of social justice, the latter of which I would have thought that you, being a social worker, would feel strongly about too. But I see now it's obvious that complaining about modern SS...

Why is Sesame Street slowly dying?

Since when did having an MSW make you an expert in child psychology? And no one said classic SS was distubing kids, but a lot of the old material can't be used because it would confuse kids, and detract from whatever their supposed to be learning in any given skit. And you're hardly in a...

    Favorite Fast Food Restaurant

I reccomend you go and rent the movie Supersize Me. It's a documentary film about a guy who, as an experiment, lives on nothing but McDonald's for a whole month. You get to see his health rapidly deteriorating through the course of the film.
