Old School Sesame coming to DVD October 2006

As I understand it, it's only the pilot show that will be appearing on the DVD. Many people confuse the pilot show with the first official episode, but they're not the same thing. The pilot show refers to the test show that aired before the "official" airing of the first show in November 1969...

Old School Sesame coming to DVD October 2006

Guys, I've said this before and I'll say it again... DO NOT expect to see anything that has Kermit in it on this (Or any future releases, for that matter). The rights for a DVD release are different from those of a broadcast, which means SW would have to pay Disney if they wanted to use...

"America's Next Muppet" mini-series in development

AUGHHH! Please, do NOT mention that woman's name in my presence!

"America's Next Muppet" mini-series in development

I wonder if JHC is starting to ask themselves if they made a mistake selling the Muppets to Disney. I mean, the whole reason they did it, painful as it was for them to do, was so that Kermit and co. would live on, become visible again so a whole new generation could enjoy them. But they've done...

"America's Next Muppet" mini-series in development

I second that. I just came from the internet movie database, and there's absolutely nothing about this. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero. Squat. I think whatever plans there were probably got shelved. They may re-consider at a later date, but it'll only be as good for as long as this reality TV craze...

Old School Sesame coming to DVD October 2006

As for myself, I'd like to see a combination of uncut episodes and compilations -- plus a good amount of bonus footage like "behind the scenes" or interviews with cast, creators and other prominent players in the show. I think certain episodes should be shown uncut, like the debut episode from...

Old School Sesame coming to DVD October 2006

This is great news indeed. My only regret is that I think we can probably assume we won't see any skits with Kermit included in this compilation, due to the legal rights involved when releasing something on DVD. Yes, I know that Noggin aired classic eps with Kermit in them. But the rights for...

    Lefty the Salesman

I seem to recall Fisher-Price marketed two sets of "Little People" plastic SS figures in the 70s, and Lefty was among one of them. Here's a picture of some of the figures from one of the sets, available on ebay...

Roosevelt Franklin and the other Muppets

You might want to try tape trading. Find someone who taped the SS Unpaved episodes when they appeared on Noggin and see if you can work something out with them. Roosevelt Franklin appeared in both the 1974 and 1975 season premiere episodes.

    When does Season 37 start?

You don't need anyone else's help for that. Maybe you should consider improving the quality of your typing and spelling if you don't want to come across as "dum".

    Kevin Clash on Oprah

Oprah's on now and I've been watching the first ten minutes, thinking it will probably come near the end. Glad I found this out now instead of watching the whole show straight through! :o

Guest stars who seemed to dislike being on the show

Yeah, I would have thought that would have been obvious. I mean, if they didn't want to be on the show, they would have declined the offer. Also remember that while many of the guest stars (who are still alive) might now be considered "has beens", during the show's original run they would have...

    Fraggle Rock film in development

After you said this, it just occurred to me -- if this is *really* successful, Disney might consider buying FR as well. Then the Muppet family would at least be partially re-united. :smirk:

    Fraggle Rock film in development

Though I share your sentiment, I have to say that I seriously doubt the actor who played Doc is still alive. And even if he is, he'd be in no state healthwise to do it.

More and More Fake Muppets For Sale

My thoughts exactly. When I see stuff like this, I really have to wonder if eBay actually enforces its "prohibited items" policy. :smirk:

Muppet Family Christmas on TV this year?

When you say you've got a "VHS copy of a recent TV broadcast" do you mean it was taped of TV? If so, then that would explain why you didn't think anything was cut. I guess I didn't make it clear the first time: Whenever it's aired on TV, nothing is cut. It airs in its entirety BUT... If...

Muppet Family Christmas on TV this year?

But that's not the reason it's edited. It's edited because they couldn't secure the rights to use some of the songs on the video/DVD release that they could use when it aired on TV. So they had to cut these scenes out. I have a copy of the video. I've never seen the TV version, but I could still...

Muppet Family Christmas OR Very Muppet Christmas?

And Snuffleupagus wasn't in it either, even though by that time he had been visible to all the SS cast for two years before then. Maybe he was just too big to be on the set.

    Who owns Gorch?

I would be inclined to disagree with that. In a book about the history of SNL, the muppets are mentioned and it does give some insight into why they were so hated. Apparently, the major reason the writers disliked writing their material is that Henson was very protective about the way their...
