How were the large monsters performed?

I've always wondered about this aswell. And although I do not have the answers of how they did it all exactly I know I would simply go for animatronics. Like the TMNT movies.

    Dave Privett- www.PlaySoup.com

Although I do not think they belong to Muppets exclusively I must say that Muppets have pingpongball type round eyes. While the examples you mentioned have more or less saucer type eyes. Not entirely flat but not round like Muppet eyes either. Does that make sense? I think that garfield etc...

The puppets I'm working on now look like Pokemons. I hope I won't get sued :P I think artistic styles etc. cannot be owned by someone. In that case Spitting Image was "ripped off" from Leonardo da Vinci. Every charicature in that style for that matter. Even if he was alive today I think he...

1001 ways to cover your puppet with fabrics

Sorry for the late reply :) I must've missed your post. I hope you could someday find out where they sell it and let me know. Although I must say that I still don't have a 2nd washing machine or a way to hook it up. So it probably isn't an option for me anyway. I'm actually afraid that my...

    Casting in Polyfoam?

Right, Miss Piggy was created using Tom Mc Laughlin's Latex Foam formula. You can read more about why they decided to go with that here. Jabba the Hutt and several other famous creatures have been constructed using Mc Laughlin Foam. I like carving foam and covering it with fabrics. More than...

1001 ways to cover your puppet with fabrics

Thanks for describing how you make a pattern dramaqueen :) I thought this would be an elaborate way to do it. But apparently it's the only way. It's just alot of work.

    "The Magic Triangle"?

Yes that was a documentary with John Cleese about the perfect human face. The examples named were Tom Cruise and Elizabuth Hurley if I'm correct. It had to do with Leonardo Da Vinci's studies on human proportions. I believe it's called 'The Golden Ratio'. This is probably the information...

    Arm Rods?

I use really thin hollow aliminium tubing. It's ultra light and doesn't bend under pressure easily.

1001 ways to cover your puppet with fabrics

Antron Fleece is not really an option for me. since I can't dye it :( Thanks for sharing that info on the draping technique with me Buck. I was looking for the exact name of the technique actually. So you've been a big help. Google will probably do the rest for me :p I've already found a...

1001 ways to cover your puppet with fabrics

I have a question about using fur, felt, etc. Where I live Antron Fleece is not available. I could order it from abroad. But the costs would be pretty high. Not to mention the fact that I would have to use a second washing machine to dye it. So I've decided to use felt instead. I've heard...

    Pre-recorded Voice Tracks

This actually reminds me of sheetmusic. Alot of people find it hard to learn to read notes. And so they look down on it. But reading notes enables you to learn so much more about music. It's just harder. Sometimes the combination of a puppeteer and a voice actor seperately can cause problems...

    Pre-recorded Voice Tracks

It sounds hard to me to make puppets lipsync to prerecorded audio. I would do it the other way around then. To have the actual puppeteers do the voices while filming and then have 'professional' voice actors dub the puppeteers voices.
