    Jim's Birthday is coming up...

Jim Henson gave me the motivation to be myself. At the age of ten, after I saw Muppets Tonight and read his biography, I knew that puppetry was the combination of all my interests that I had been searching for -- no matter if they were "for little kids". His character has helped me beyond...

    Hair...how much is a hank?

Herbert Humphrey hacked a hank of hoary hair; a hank of hoary hair Herbert Humphrey hacked. If Herbert Humphrey hacked a hank of hoary hair, how much hoary hair did Herbert Humphrey hack? Sorry, that was H-orrible. :o I should put this on the SS boards. Unfortunately I don't have a clue...

    Horns horns horns

Is it too aweful for me to say this thread sounds a little "h0rny"? :o Sorry, bad I know. Um, I'd check craft stores. You could maybe find some ornamental thing made out of resin for this, or get a styrofoam cone and carve a spiral into it. Otherwise you can get some block foam at an...

    My Dad Needs Prayers

I'm sorry to hear about this, but I'm glad your dad is getting better. Don't worry, God's got a reason for letting this happen (check out Matthew 10:29). I'll definitely be praying for you guys!

    Paul needs help!

I think the foam thickness actually depends on preference. You can get more detailed shapes out of 1/2" foam (which is why I vote for that), but the other stuff is thicker and will hold shape a bit better.

    searching for a lobster puppet

I've been building for nearly 9 years now and I've built some puppets for churches before. I have two weeks until I go back to college and I'm fairly free to build until then. My website is scarylarrywolf.tripod.com if you're interested in some samples. I hope you can find what you're...

    Bear Town: Episode Two Online

I just noticed the picture in the background looks like the early version of Tumbles and (I'm guessing) Hank and Omle. Awesome! I love finding details like that in the background.

    YOUR muppet movie!!

You left out Jabba the Hutt. I think (if we could bring in a SS character) Cookie Monster would be best. Otherwise Bobo or the Glutton from the Ed Sullivan Show.

I'm new and a little cynical...

I think most of us would agree with everything you've complained about. Personally, I think Matt Vogel will make an excellent fill in for Carroll, but I wish they would knock off the "Journey to Ernie" garbage. It's barely educational and the format is too stiff. Elmo needs to be shot...

    Holy Big Ben, Batman!!!

Yeah, that's a GREAT thing to do for your kid. "What great things has your dad done?" "Well, he got arrested for scaling Buckingham Palace dressed as Batman..."

    Bear Town: Episode Two Online

Nice Work! Those little cockroaches are awesome. They remind me of some grasshoppers I built in junior high, scaled to Barbie so they could wear Mattel-brand clothing (it's the hottest fashion on the puppet scene you know). Very clever skit; great puppeteering and editing jobs!

OK, sorry. Too much contact-cement sniffing for me... *crawling under a rock now*

    Jim on imdb

Have I just never noticed that Jim had a picture on imdb, or is this new? I thought I remembered that Frank was the only muppeteer who had his photo up there. Is Jim new? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001345/ Another way of phrasing this question might read something like this: "Have you...

Today is the Eleventh of September...

I agree with everything stated here, except for this. KEEP IT UP EVEN THROUGH NOVEMBER 2nd. Let's keep loving our neighbors as ourselves. Yes it's a shame that it takes a tragedy to make people come together, but might it not even be worse if we fall back into our rut? What have we actually...

The Copyright Act & "Fair Use" Doctrine

I have a question about using songs in video production. I think this may have been covered in another thread, but it would be good to include it in this one anyway. Does anyone know generally how outrageous a fee one would be charged in order to use a song from, for example, the Trans...

    Mary Had A Little Amp

First of all, that is precisely the reason I didn't like the idea of Dixie Chicks performing the song because they are so hateful of the Commander in Chief. Yes it's a number for everyone, so WHY ARE YOU EXCLUDING REPUBLICANS? That is sheer hypocricy. Secondly, your comments are really...
