what do you use to make a mouth?

    Dense foam camping mats. http://www.amazon.com/Campers-Foam-Mat/dp/B0015XDJFY/ref=sr_1_48?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1206938787&sr=8-48

    "Timepiece" Influence?

I sure suspect it. I work for an ad company, and someone sent out this new Visa commercial they found. Do you think whoever made it has seen "Timepiece"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbdxQMLy2j8 Very suspicious...

    Puppet Hair?

I've been to a wig store (in Seattle) that had packages of loose hair strands for only $3.00 US. I was able to put together a nice head of hair for a granny puppet with it.

    Made a new one!

I suggest if you're giving them away, use cheaper materials. Your average Joe won't know the difference between Antron fleece and an Old Navy jacket. I usually end up short changing myself when I try to sell my work, but the key is to be proud and honest enough of your own work to charge a...

    My First Muppet Video

I stapled my first puppet together. He turned out similar. I used white cloth too! After I got better at making puppets and using sheet foam, I re-created him with better materials. That was kind of fun. I should post pictures sometime.

    Fran Brill Presentation Report

Does anyone have information on where Fran and Dave are going next? Thanks

    My First Muppet Video

Nice for a first shot. Quick on the jokes, and I liked your Big Bird impression. I'd recommend keeping single-shot YouTube flicks to a 2:30 minute minimum... most people don't have the patience to watch for longer than that. Is Frankie your first puppet ever?

    Janice lives!

Here's an example of an appropriate response to the thread (*ahem): Sweet! That looks just like Janice! If you don't get the joke, watch the Muppet Show.

    Stubble?

If you're using fleece for the skin, you could try using a brush or comb to roughen the fabric on the area you want to look stubbly. Try it on a scrap first though.

    Realistic Baby Puppets

I believe I have seen that one. I think we were looking for something a bit more realistic. We could probably just use a doll and remodel it to suit our purposes. Thanks!

    Realistic Baby Puppets

My church is looking for a realistic baby puppet for a Christmas show — the kind you can "hold" (operate) with a blanket around your arm and the puppet's body. Anyone know where to buy one? Thanks,

Scott Foam - White vs Black

They say "Once you go black you don't go back." They say it, not me. They do.

Scott Foam - White vs Black

Only, slightly off-topic: Has anyone noticed that JoAnn Fabrics has stopped carrying white sheet foam and has only been carrying the green stuff? Or is that just up here in Seattle?

    2 Questions...Feet & Glue (respectively)

I second this method. Another option, which gets kind of complex, is the bolt & wingnut method. Secure a small (1 – 1/2 inch) bolt to the item you're applying (using epoxy works for me), make a hole where you want to attach it, insert the bolt into the hole, put on a washer (to make sure the...

My latest puppet in the making!

That dragon is amazing. Hehe... in all these photos with that hat and feather costume, he looks like he's posing for the cover of a Hendrix album.:)

Questions about Jim's cameo in GMC...

I had the pleasure of meeting Amy Van Gilder at Muppetfest, and the moment I met her the first thing I thought was "Hey, that's the woman from that cameo with Jim in TGMC!". So let me just confirm for the record: IT'S HER IN THE CAMEO. :)

Thanks for all the suggestions and sympathy stories, folks! I think I'll check out Home Depot and see what they can offer.

Tons of Henson Qs for my final paper

Isn't it pretty obvious to tell just by looking at Kermit which hand Jim used? I mean, you can see the knuckles in the back of his head and a bulge in one side of his throat. I think Jim was right handed. Plus there is footage of him in "The World of Jim Henson" sketching a puppet for Don...
