Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Yeah it was interesting to read that in the autobiography. Paul Fusco told me ages ago that Jim ended up becoming quite a fan over time so it seems like things got better but i guess there was always an element of rivalry there.
For fans of ALF, this was reported on TVShowsOnDVD.com :-
Earlier today we got an email from Melmac letting us know that the first season of ALF will be released on DVD August 10 from Lions Gate Home Entertainment. The set will carry a SRP of $39.98. Unfortunately that's all we know for now...
Hey Mike,
Just wanted to say have a great time, it sounds brilliant. Hi to Karen too - hope you are both fine and dandy.
May the force be with you,
Luke
(not the one related to Darth Vader)
I don't think they were that reluctant. They were offered it at the same time as the Muppets, checked with their retailers to see if it was a good idea and turned it down. I don't think Ken has ever expressed the kinda desire to do Fraggle like he did with Sesame Street and actually said they...
I don't think there is much chance. Palisades didn't want it and Sababa was reportedly interested but didn't take it. I think with HIT in control of the licensing we'll see more kiddie merchandise such as beanie plushes and books but not sure they'll have much success getting todays kids into...
Thanks for the info Pigpen, very cool you got to do that and yeah hat off to you, that was a very quick changeover indeed. So what were the band bits that got cut and were you there when the Reporter Kermit bits were recorded? I guess that was one of the later puppets dressed up from what you...
Indeed. I take my hat off to him. Best Muppet appearance in years, it was on a par with Pepe introducing models wearing Muppet underwear on "The Other Half". I never thought they'd beat that. We must find a way to get it on the web.
I have no way of putting it on the web either.
Warrick - Just surpised Steve could get out of the first puppet, out of the amp, run and get into the second puppet in four seconds. I just looked at it back and saw the amp was only loose after the free-standing bits though so yeah, wow - he's...
Oh yeah, i just noticed how they did the Blues Brothers thing. I actually never realised about the free-standing Blues Brother Kermit before. There's like a small box on the left of the stage right the way through the number, not large enough for a person but large enough for the puppet to be...
Yeah i taped it too when it was repeated this morning on ITV2. I agree that the reactions to Kermit (on the street as well) show there is a definite love and enthusiasm for the Mupets in the UK still. Just him getting booked as the surprise finale guest for the final moments of the series show...
If the media "gossip" is to be believed it does seem there is stuff going on between Disney and Henson. I think Hill exagerated things a lot though. With these kind of things you can always expect some last minute hesitation, especially with Disney but i expect it will probably be pushed...
The EM.TV decision was brilliant, a stroke of genius. They sold a company for over 600 million dollars with all sorts of clauses and restrictions in the contract meaning the new owner couldn't do very much without their permission. Then they sat and watched as the company realised how they had...
Ummm sometime between 1980 and 1985 actually when Henson was hot coming off the back of TMS and Disney was going through a poor period financially. This was pre-Eisner.
Maybe, but it was a live saturday night prime time appearance on one of the biggest channels. I think they'd probably send him over just for that if need be.
The current Columbia Tristar deal finishes worldwide at the end of June i think. After that all of their stuff will be deleted. Perhaps there might be the opportunity to pick up some discounted items in the sales.
LOL! Yeah same here. It was totally unannounced and a big surprise. I saw a lot of criticism of Kermits voice and facial movements for the Nick & Jessica appearance but tonight he was very much like Jim's Kermit - even did the freak out 'yayyyyyy' bit like after the TMS's guest were...
