I Finally Just Give Up . . . FOR GOOD

Yes, that is very important. Not just for weight, but health in general. See it's never hopeless, there's always something else you can do to help yourself. You're lucky you can't drink soda because that was always the killer for me, lol. As for juice, you'd have to take a look at the...

Your Thoughts: "I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story"

Made it to the screening yesterday! I highly recommend it to anyone who struggles to realize their dreams, it's very inspirational and very honest. In a way, it was a load off my chest, to realize it's normal to experience sadness, from setbacks or difficult people in your life. But there's...

I Finally Just Give Up . . . FOR GOOD

As a former member of Weight Watchers, I can tell you a lot of people wish they could lose 8 pounds, hehe. And at least you already know you can lose more. It's normal to fluctuate like that. I know it can be frustrating. And holidays are definitely a killer. But now that you know it's possible...

I Finally Just Give Up . . . FOR GOOD

God just wants you to be healthy, regardless of how you end up looking. I know you said you already tried dietary changes. That's a good thing and I'd continue to look for ways to improve on that. Exercise actually won't do much unless you make changes to your everyday diet.

    RIP B.B. King

I just walked past the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill. They have "Rest in Peace" on the marquee and people were stopping to take pictures.

I'm going to see if I can catch a screening this weekend. I owe a lot to Big Bird! :wisdom:

    Most Obnoxious Fandoms

I'm right there with you. Starscream (from Transformers) is a character a lot of fans would love to see redeemed, and I'm cool with that too, but first you kinda need to acknowledge how flawed he is in the first place, and not try to cover that up. I'm sure a lot of young fans feel...

Weekly Box Office and Film Discussion Thread

I just don't see that as realism. It's just the extreme opposite of personality. In other words, bland. And I wouldn't buy a toy for any children based on that. It's like everything's backward. Cliche and contrived. Their new personalities liberated them in the cartoon. Nowadays, everyone has...

Weekly Box Office and Film Discussion Thread

Kinda over the "realism" trend at this point and I look forward to the day when the studios are too. This isn't realism. This is "let's take something that was kooky and inspirational and drain it of all personality until only bland teenage angst remains." Plus there's the usual adaptation...

    When you need to rant...

Again, do you think people who would react in such a way to a drawing could ever truly be appeased? They are clearly unbalanced. And they are trying to draw the rest of the world into their insanity. And amazingly, it's working. Every time someone apologizes for drawing a cartoon. It's a...

    When you need to rant...

Um, to say the least... Which is why we can't start policing criticism just because it wasn't polite enough. People who would react that way over a cartoon will always be angry and always prone to attack. They could decide tomorrow to attack some other form of expression, until we finally...

    When you need to rant...

What I'm saying is, I don't see that as respect. At all. If someone wants to draw a mean cartoon of Jesus, let them! It doesn't hurt me, I'm not a child. Life is too short. I don't want or need that kind of "respect." OK, it was about hate. Moving on. I stopped running to the teacher a long...

    When you need to rant...

So? As a Christian, I don't consider that a compliment. At all. I consider that superstitious, old fashioned, and needlessly fearful. I'm a big girl and can handle a cartoon of Jesus, thank you, lol. Probably. If she staged an event to troll bigoted conservatives would you be so against it? It...

    When you need to rant...

Very true. Like those stories you hear about women's groups coming to the set of Sesame Street in the '70s to "report" on how Susan's character was marginalized. On the one hand, the group probably did motivate the show's writers to give Susan and career and more to do, and that's a good thing...

    When you need to rant...

And if it had been a "Draw Jesus Offensively" contest, MSNBC would be hailing it as a triumph of free speech and tolerance. :p Basically, conservatives and liberals only defend the speech they care about. When it comes to free speech that encompasses all speech, they both lose their nerve. And...

    When you need to rant...

The solution to that is having more male characters in vulnerable positions. But Hollywood isn't interested in doing that, and neither are many feminists. So nothing changes. As I woman, I find the criticism of Black Widow in this film quite sad and inexplicable. She had a lot of great moments...

The Saddest thing that reminds you that you're old...

Well depressing in that passage of time sense. I can't say I was sorry to see it go, lol. Sorry to anyone who likes it but Jimmy and his friends really annoyed me. :p
