The Muppets Episode 2 - Hostile Makeover

For you. VMX is the thing that gave me nightmares, lol. Again, they're clearly not trying to, lol. Um yeah, you're highlighting the issue here. You grew up at a time when Japanese stuff became huge in pop culture, you so know all these little details about Engrish humor and Anime theme...

The Muppets Episode 2 - Hostile Makeover

That stuff is funny (and it is quite funny, lol) because it's a contrast to the cute little costumed characters we've gotten to know. That doesn't mean anyone wants the actual show to be like that. I mean Star Trek's bloopers are hilarious too, but I prefer the show to have higher standards...

It's OK, Dwayne, I wasn't upset. It's normal for tensions to run high sometimes. :)

The Muppets Episode 2 - Hostile Makeover

Good analogy. TF fans almost have it easier because they've split up the various incarnations into "continuity families."

The Muppets Episode 2 - Hostile Makeover

I agree, no true Muppet fan would post a Rainbow Connection clip. :)

The Muppets Episode 2 - Hostile Makeover

Yeah I think all we're trying to say is Jim spoke to the part of kids that was grown up and the part of grown ups that was childlike. And we would just like to see that theme continued.

The Muppets Episode 2 - Hostile Makeover

Actually, we've spent a lot of time on this thread pointing out all the things the Muppets have done right. Because we do love the Muppets and we don't like seeing them fail.

The Muppets Episode 2 - Hostile Makeover

Funny, I thought it was just humor, period. :) But I'm sure some execs told Jim that vaudeville was "old humor" and would never work in a "modern" setting. No one here has said that. ;)

The Muppets Episode 2 - Hostile Makeover

I think if the jokes on this new show were more subtle and implied, people wouldn't be worrying so much about what their kids are hearing.

The Muppets Episode 2 - Hostile Makeover

I can very easily go on record saying I don't buy into this very recent realistic trend, whether it's comic book movies or Muppets. I've been known to say "Oh God" in real life as a verbal tick. Doesn't mean I'll think it's clever when a writer puts it in Kermit's mouth. I don't need the Muppets...

The Muppets Episode 2 - Hostile Makeover

Ladywarrior is right though, a lot of these jokes are more Middle School than adult. The Muppet Movie had jokes about Nazi scientists and religious cults (which I didn't understand as a kid and had to explain to younger viewers years later as well). And these writers think naughty drawings and...

    Kermit attracted to pigs?????

Well I more mean that it's a message for the audience about different kinds of people getting together, even if they may seem mismatched. And in GMC, Nicky Holiday is rather doubtful about a frog and a pig being together, even though he, a human, is currently attracted to said pig, lol.

The Muppets Episode 2 - Hostile Makeover

I think we all love it when the Muppets are edgy. We just don't all agree with the execution on this particular show.

Halloween is just around the corner

Don't worry about it, adults try too hard to make Halloween a "grown up" holiday.

The Muppets Episode 2 - Hostile Makeover

The 70s was not the most innocent decade. Quite the contrary, actually. So yes, I do think the sincere Muppet still have a place in today's culture. :)

The Muppets Episode 1 - Pig Girls Don't Cry (Pilot)

Exactly, and there are still kids shows and adult shows that embody that tone. There is no reason for the Muppets to abandon it.

    Kermit attracted to pigs?????

He's always been in love with Miss Piggy. He just wasn't in love with commitment, lol. Not really crazy about the idea of Kermit being attracted to pigs in general. The whole point of their relationship was how unusual and unexpected the pairing was, even to them.
