The Food Thread (Non Instagram Edition)

Well, you get what you pay for. On the cheap side you have McD’s, BK, and White Castle. Fast and cheap, but not the best. On the other hand you have Five Guys and Smashburger. Costs more, but you’re getting more than just a squashed hockey puck. Wendy’s is a few notches higher than McD’s.

I was the same age as you when I was in McD’s, looking at my Super Size combo meal, that mountain of fries, and thought, “I can’t eat this crap anymore “. There have been a number of books on how McD’s changed America’s eating habits. People like it for no other reason than it’s fast. It really...

You should be able to contact the DMV. They must have your license on file somewhere.

    The "You know what?" thread

I can understand that. My wife and I never had our own kids, but we had a hand in raising a few. We never had to make big decisions for them, but make sure their chores are done, their homework is done, they are, that deal. Being an uncle is fun. I don’t spoil my niece and nephew, but we can do...

There’s a blogger on YouTube whose channel, Delish, tries different dishes at different chains- Cheesecake Factory, Cracker Barrel, etc. She tried 40 dishes on Cheesecake’s menu. She takes one bite. I say no fair. My parents brought me up to finish your plate. one good thing did call me out of...

The New What Made You Frown Today Thread

Even if a driver can see him, there’s not much time to stop. Sometimes if you swerve to miss him, you might cause an accident. The biggest run-in I ever had, a deer jumped out of the woods and I clipped him. He staggered over in the opposite lane and that driver finished him off.

I’m not too sure. Christopher Cerf lives on the Upper East Side and his neighborhood ain’t too shabby.

For New York cheesecake domination, I’ll put Junior’s up against Eileen’s.

Cheesecake Factory has good cheesecake, no doubt. But they should trim their menu a little bit. Unfortunately a restaurant can’t be all things to all people. You’re stretching yourself a little thin having burgers AND pasta AND Mexican AND breakfast AND having a licquor license... that’s a lot...

    Dealing with depression and anxiety

Basic things like cooking- you don’t have to do it for a living like I do, but being able to make a sandwich and open a can of soup, even you can master that. Same with doing your own laundry. These are things you’re going to need to learn how to do because your parents won’t be around forever...

The new What Made You Smile Today thread

I remember that time. First there were a few dozen Sesame clips. Then a hundred. Now... Thank you for your part in making it happen.

Do you know what I’ve seen quite a few of over the years? Burger Kings that went out of business. They take down the signs, and a few I’ve passed have been vacant for years. You can tell from the shape of the red roof, and the fake brick facade, it used to be a BK. But it looks ghostlike seeing...

The Food Thread (Non Instagram Edition)

Sometimes there’s no rhyme or reason in the restaurant business. Ten years ago, there was a series on Food Network to help launch a new chain. The winner was a chef who opened a chain called Soul Daddy. He had three locations in New York, Chicago, and LA. The New Tork location was at the South...

The Food Thread (Non Instagram Edition)

I’ve gotten over a lot of things I didn’t like by being a cook. When you’re making sauces or soups, you still have to taste them sometimes to make sure they’re seasoned right. We have these tiny plastic spoons to taste stuff. Just enough for a taste. Not enough to make you sick. Being a cook...

I’ll get ry anything once. You might not know what you’re missing. If it’s no good, you can say you tried it. it was years before I found out you can melt butter on a steak.

What made you roll your eyes today thread?

I might have mentioned this once before. If you were out somewhere at 2am, and your car breaks down, who can you call to come get you? Parents don’t count. If you have five people like that in your life, you’re doing good.

    Dustin Diamond dead at 44

That’s the be of harshest realities of life. Death comes to all of us, and being on a hit sitcom won’t make you immune to that. And less he’s not suffering anymore.
