The 'What Song Are You Currently Listening To?' Thread

LOTS of jazz over the past week or so: Coleman Hawkins, Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Thelonious Monk, Zoot Sims, Lester Young, and Teddy Wilson.

    Little things we've noticed

Jerry Nelson's hand is visible at the end of this number, operating Slim Wilson's left arm. (A darn good song too, I might add.)

    Little things we've noticed

Frank dominates this sketch with his ad-libs: "Oh, Lance! What a day!" "I think there's something wrong with my tuffett too." I also love how the narrator gets increasingly ****** off as the blue Muppet keeps showing up in the wrong animal costume. "Along came a spider.......ALONG CAME A...

    Little things we've noticed

This is one of my favorite Anything Muppet sketches of all time! The whole premise of the blue Muppet flubbing take after take is hilarious enough, but Miss Muffett's scream at the end just puts it over the top for me (as does Lance's sigh of resignation at the end).

What song can you not get out of your head?

One of my favorites from the Sesame Road CD! I liked "Letter B," "It's Zydeco," "Healthy Food," "Wet or Dry", and "With a Little Yelp" the most.

    Little things we've noticed

True, but I was talking only about the Muppet Show characters. Of course Jim had Guy Smiley, which was unlike any other character in his voice repertoire. I think Frank's voice repertoire was more expansive than Jim's because...well, let's just say that Frank played both Cookie Monster and...

    Little things we've noticed

I've realized that Jim Henson used two basic voices for his Muppet Show characters: a mellow voice for Kermit, the Swedish Chef and Link Hogthrob; and a more gravelly voice for Rowlf, Waldorf, Dr. Teeth and the Newsman. While the other performers had more diverse voices for their characters...

The new What Made You Smile Today thread

Smooth jazz is one of my favorites genres too! I remember hearing Sade's music on a smooth jazz radio station years ago and instantly being hooked to the saxophone licks on "Is It a Crime," "Smooth Operator," and "Your Love Is King." Grover Washington, Jr. and Bill Withers's "Just the Two of...

Thank you! Yeah...I've heard that the driving instructors at one location are easier than the ones at another location, so I'm going where it's more likely to be easier.

The new What Made You Smile Today thread

Playing the saxophone always makes me smile. Right now I'm learning the riffs to "Who Can It Be Now" by Men at Work and "I.G.Y" by Donald Fagen. I have an alto sax but I want to try the tenor sax in the future because my favorite sax players used it: Coleman Hawkins, Stan Getz, Lester Young...

The 'What Song Are You Currently Listening To?' Thread

That music also reminds me of that Dave Chappelle standup routine where he explains why he thinks Sesame Street is reminiscent of the ghetto and a bad influence on children: "And then they put a PIMP on there! Now they don't up and say he's a pimp, but I know a pimp when I see one. They call...

The 'What Song Are You Currently Listening To?' Thread

I recently discovered some live Beatles concerts on YouTube and have been listening to those. Even though the audiences were screaming wildly, it's amazing that the Beatles' shows were as good as they were.

I practiced driving in the rain today...using windshield wipers is easier than I thought! I still suck at driving in reverse and my feet are still too heavy on the gas pedal, so those are other things to work on. Three months until my road test...wish me luck!!!
