Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
1) Nobody is attacking Henson's children. It's true, we don't know the full story yet, but for the moment, it certainly looks like Whitmire is the victim of corporate meddling, and Cheryl Henson is towing the line in order to protect her's (and the Henson Co's) interests.
2) On a personal note...
Everybody's entitled to an opinion. That doesn't mean it should be voiced in a public forum. That is unprofessional, especially when the person being criticized has been part of the working family for almost 40 years.
All of this nastiness and heresay makes me want to just let the Muppets drift into memory. If Cheryl Henson really said that, it was a nasty and unprofessional thing to do. As others have pointed out, the guy has performed Henson's characters for nearly three decades - none of this makes any...
On the contrary, there are a lot of good shows on Netflix, from Stranger Things to Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and House of Cards. Henson is doing the smart thing.
-The traditional Muppet Show format won't work in the 21st Century.
-A silly complaint. ONCE UPON A TIME and AGENTS OF SHIELD are one hour dramas, this is a comedy. There are very few one hour comedies on television.
-Yeah.
Drugs, man.
Agreed. One episode is not enough to make a fair judgement. The pilot I'd say is a B- or B+. You can still do adult humor and be intelligent while doing it.
A lot of people have said the Muppets come across as meaner, but I don't think so. I thought the Kermit/Piggy scene in the dressing room...
I was there too. Really beautiful film. I must admit, Spinney does not seem as "with it," which is totally understandable given his age, but it was a little sad to see.
Disney Channel actors (for they are certainly not stars) are interchangeable and meaningless in the grand scheme of our cultural landscape. Most of the celebrities featured on The Muppet Show are still relevant today - living or dead, they are icons.
You want to know why that might be? Because they're honest. That's the most important thing. You can't have a friendship with someone you lie to constantly because you don't want to hurt feelings. I know a lot of our comments (people like me and OscarFan) seem harsh, but you can be a fan and not...
Criticism is only a stab in the back if it's done out of pure maliciousness, and without the proper information to make an intelligent rebuttal. I don't recall ToughPigs ever going after the performers themselves. The attacks are not personal.
It must be nice to live in a bubble of pure joy...

Good news, especially in the wake of this awful Muppets for babies news.
Wrong. That's called settling for less.
Oscarfan said it better than I could. They're realistic at ToughPigs. I like it here, but people will eat anything Disney force feeds them because they think idol worship of Jim Henson means they must agree with everything that has happened to the...
