Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
When Whitmire took over in '90, the public wasn't able to respond as quickly as they can now with social media. I'm sure they're a little nervous about what people will say when a new Kermit video pops up.
I haven't seen the fluff pieces, either, but I do think Muppet fandom tends to be blindly idealistic, to a point where we cannot usually have real discussions on things that matter.
Well, you can take this with a grain of salt, but a friend of mine who performs on Sesame Street confirmed the "Steve Whitmire is an ego maniac" story, and said it was one of the reasons he was ousted as Ernie. :( Pretty disappointing.
Again, it's not a one sided thing. I guess Brian Henson is...
Kermit isn't funny as an individual character. He never was. Look at the interviews with Henson as Kermit, and they were generally awkward, too. Kermit is funniest when he's playing off another character.
As for the assumption that it is all off the cuff, that's not true, either: they usually...
I don't think that's a logical fallacy at all.
Where are Whitmire's colleagues? Contractually obligated to shut up, that's where. They're not going to publicly weigh in on anything if Disney is willing to fire people who are insubordinate. The only people who have gone on record apart from...
Blind support goes both ways. There are many people here who support the Henson family without thinking, without questioning, despite the fact that there are plenty of reports to suggest that the Hensons aren't always the nicest folks
on the block.
I think people are negatively responding to...
Lyon sounds bitter here. I'm not refuting the possibility that Whitmire's a darker person than he pretends to be, but to suggest he's a poor actor? I disagree, completely.
I'm completely open to the idea that Whitmire's got a mean streak, but the continual assertions by his peers that he is...

And, it continues. Whitmire is citing an event nobody saw take place. This is all leaving such a bad taste in my mouth. It's really quite sad. The Muppets was one brand that survived death and corporate...
Interesting stuff from Brian Henson. Although, I will say,
"My dad's No. 1 thing was don't repeat yourself. Innovate."
PUTS OUT A DARK CRYSTAL PREQUEL SERIES, FRAGGLE ROCK MOVIE, LABYRINTH SEQUEL...
Oh yeah! I wasn't referring to the comment in the video or article, I was responding to the nastier one she made on Facebook. That, and Brian Henson's rather backhanded compliment about Whitmire. I don't think that was fair at all. Even if Whitmire is the bad guy in this - which we can't really...
Yes, actually. I do. I work for a company owned by the same company that owns the Muppets. This is not a brag, it's just a fact. I know how these things work. Not that it takes somebody inside the system to understand that, of course, and I'm not being an annoying know it all. I'm speaking from...
I take it you have never worked in television or entertainment.
This is a pretty basic smear campaign. Think about it. If you are an underdog company like Henson, what would you do? Side with an employee, or a potential collaborator and employer with billions of dollars? It's no secret that the...
The wording is suspect. What, exactly, does "attacking" mean? In the world of corporatized entertainment, any time a subordinate has an opinion, the employers could equate that to "hostility" and "attacking."

This goes a little more in-depth. Honestly, it just sounds all around ugly. It will be difficult for the brand to retain its harmonious public image with this kind of mudslinging going on.
