If you've ever heard his Thinking Of U by the Beetles, he is channeling a VERY astounding John impression. I could send it to anyone who doesn't have it and would like to hear.

I love all those Sesame Street Beetle clips, thanks for sharing! They're clever parodies and adorable songs in their own right, lol. And I really adore Chris' voice, it's just so unusual.

Personally I agree with Meep that Richard is mainly channeling John when he sings them. I wonder if he was a Beatles fan (I mean most people were back then, but still hehe).

I know; I remember hearing "Thinking of U" and commenting to myself on how Beatles-esque it was. Richard certainly did his homework when it came to doing the vocals.

And I'll bet he was a fan - which reminds me of how the Muppet crew tried to get the Beatles on TMS. If they had gotten at least one, can you imagine what that would have looked like? There would have been a lot of pleased-as-Punch Muppets on that episode - and a lot of pleased-as-Punch Muppet performers hiding down below.

And you can bet that there would have been a lot of musical numbers on that episode.

Yeah it sounds like they were really intent on getting Paul, and so didn't try so much to get the others. Which is a shame, but because George would have been great, he had a great sense of humor.

Now that I think of it...there is a picture of George with a Kermit doll on his head. And he's wearing the outfit that he wore when he appeared on Saturday Night Live. I wonder if they met at that time. Hmm...

Ah here it is:

I bet the Muppets did meet George Harrison. He probably really liked them then. And all those rumors about the tension was fairly untrue except for the writing staff. In reality the Muppeteers got along really well with them, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd particularly.

Hmm - I've always heard that John Belushi really disliked the Muppets. He was the one calling them assorted nearly-obscene names and all that, from what I heard.

But yes, pretty much the rest of the Not Ready For Prime Time Players appeared in Muppet productions - Gilda was on TMS, Jane appeared on SS, Chevy Chase was in "Follow That Bird..." And then, years later, the Muppets (as in TMS) appeared in a special SNL episode.

Yeah, George seems to be the sort who would have been fond of the Muppets. He and Jim and the others would have seen eye to eye on a lot of things. In an interview, George said he didn't like to go clubbing; "I just like to stay home and watch the flowers grow." That's certainly something Jim and the gang would have identified with.

You're right, I thought that as well. But in Dave's interview, either at the panel or the latest Celluloid Dreams one, he said they were actually quite close. John did like to pull that sort of tough act. Plus, that particularly pun, pardon me, was a liiiiittle too fun to pass up.

But yes. You're so right about George. Heck there probably wasn't a single person from that era who didn't like the Muppets a little.

Oh yes I recall that quote, George was a very involved gardener later in life (he did have like a 40 acre house! lol). He tried very hard to appreciate life and keep his priorities in order.

Yeah the "U" falling is the typical slightly scary side of Sesame Street, lol. You don't see that so much on TV anymore. I think it had a lot to do with the make-shift, primitive look of early Television, it tended to look a bit rough and creepy, lol. But that's a reason I always enjoyed watching it. Nowadays, TV may look brighter and more professional, but it's a lot less interesting!
