I had a teacher that used to yell out "Sit down; and shut up!" He'd do it when ever hos class would get unruly and overtime he'd get to the "up!" part there would be total silence everytime... It never failed. LOL!

"I don't think I can do this..."
"Ah, shut up and go for it!"

(chuckle) Yes, another pearl of wisdom from the great Richard Hunt.

I think telling the others that before you got started was a good way to break the ice. If people are tense, they can't concentrate as well.

Ah, teachers and their quirks! Though it can be necessary in an unruly class.

Know what's really weird? I only really found out about Richard a couple years go, like 2002. I didn't know much about him at all yet, just the basics. That was went the interest really started. At that time, I was having trouble with a very important project. I just couldn't get motivated. Then, you know I swear, a voice in my head just said, "Just up and do it!" Lol, and after that it was very easy to get started.

I always thought that was a funny story, but only recently did I realize how ironic it was.

It's kind of the same with me. I mean, up until a few years ago, I only knew that he played Scooter, Statler, Janice, Beaker and Sweetums, and that he died sometime before MCC was released.

But even back then, if someone had asked me if I knew who he was, I would have quickly responded, "Yes, he plays Scooter." I still remember feeling a slight twinge of sadness when, at age eight, I saw the opening screen for MCC, with "In Loving Memory of Jim Henson and Richard Hunt," and I knew why I felt kind of sad.

It's interesting...I guess, subconsciously, I've always wondered who Richard was, what he looked like, that sort of thing. I mean, I always like to know more about what goes on behind the scenes. I want to know about the names and faces behind my favorite books and shows, and the characters in them...and of course, since Scooter was and is my favorite Muppet, I wanted to know more all about the man who played him.

The Muppets were unique in that most children were familiar with who their creator was. I even knew who Frank Oz was because of the old documentary Henson's Place (I used to watch that as a kid all the time!).

I was also fascinated with all the behind the scenes stuff as a kid, it didn't spoil the illusion at all. I suppose it contributed to my love of documentaries and video editing later on.

Oh btw, someone posted a very brief clip of Henson's Place on youtube once. Unfortunately the added a soundtrack to it, so you can't hear much. But you can see Richard performing one of Convincing John's girls. (Terry Angus is also there too, talking to Jim!)

Man, that image of Jim's fingers in the Doozer boots is engrained in my mind! Lol

Yeah, I spotted Richard too. It's that distinctive hairdo of his, don't ya know.

And let's see...he seemed to be wearing jeans, a blue turtleneck, and a light-colored, loose-fitting shirt worn open, like a jacket.

It's kind of unusual to see the performers from above...but it does give a new angle (so to speak) on things. You can see how intense and alert they are.

Guys: a few days ago, I sent an e-mail to the Find-A-Grave site, telling the administrators that there was an error on Richard's page.

It looks as if someone read the e-mail and immediately went in and made the corrections; Richard's now listed as having been cremated, with some of the ashes spread over the flower beds at the family's home in Closter.

That's great that you let them know the error, MN! There is a slightly typo with the word "flowers." But it's good that the page is more accurate now.

Ah, I'm so happy, it's finally starting to be Fall. I can't wait for the Holiday season (starting October 1st).

Wow, I knew Sesame Street was repetitive, but these Spaceship Surprise sketches are ridiculous!

Still, it is nice to hear Richard's laugh over and over again as you go through the three sketches, lol. And Jim is positively hilarious.

What's a little scary is, even with all three of these Spaceship Surprise sketches, they still didn't post the one I remember! (The "J" sound)
