*Walks in with a bag of garlic flavored popcorn from the JNC. What Brazilian accent of Richard's? Which clip are we talking about this time?

Popcorn, how civilized!

It's a clip from the old anniversary special Sesame Street: 20 Years and Counting. Opera singer Placido Domingo visits the set and gets to duet with his Sesame Street counterpart, Placido Flamingo. It really is a beautiful song (and collaboration).

BeakerSqueedom, ever seen this clip?

Ha! That was great... Placido shmoozing and then moving on to try to serenade María Figueroa. The best part was the guy named Steve? Sounded like David Rudman, was this a character that appeared onscreen or just an offscreen voiceover? And the part with María the Duck was priceless, for once Mumford's trick works out correctly, more or less.

Thanks for showing us this heralde.

I believe that was David Rudman playing "Steve", who I think is just a voice over for comic relief, hehe. I remember seeing that episode years ago, especially the alley at night with people yelling from windows like a real city (the show did that a few times).

Richard had a first class singing voice, hands down, and an on-the-spot sense of humor. The fact that people often forget that shows just how nature and talented he was.

"And will you dream about me my darling?" Lol that bird needs to be put on a lease! Though I do like the lesson there, love is best when it's between two people. Not just one person lusting after another.

Thanks for posting the Telephone song, it actually has cheered me up in the past when I was lonely (and inspired me to make a phone call) lol.

That flamingo has style . I'd NEVER put him on a leash.
 Yes, that was a charming lesson.

Sheesh, they don't do that on Sesame Street anymore!
*Pouts*

*Sigh*

Actually that clip with the two Domingos perfectly personifies classic Sesame Street for me - clever humor and touching music. They cared enough to give children the very best, rather than underestimate them.

Today's show can't hold a candle and it is a shame. I wouldn't even mind except that classic SS is getting so little respect and exposure. Though the Old School DVDs are a welcome exception.
