I hate when people use it as Photobucket and just put pictures of stuff they own on it and call it photography. That's what PHOTOBUCKET is for.

I admit, I was going kinda crazy last night uploading...stuff. I dunno. I guess it was the excitement of something new XD

Although why on earth I took a screenshot of my computer being stupid I dont know. I dont even remember uploading it (it was like 2 am and I was falling asleep at my computer). Yeah, I deleted that very quickly once I realized it was there :p

Sarge, don't speak too soon! Btw, I've added to to my watchlist. ;3 I think it's a good feeling to just get your work out there.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. I must say, at times I have difficulty categorizing my stuff, but not to the extent in which I put, say, a drawing under the installation category, heh. I've seen photos, edited and unedited under 'paintings' many a time. I don't know who they're fooling but few people can draw photo realistic, the textures alone would take ages to learn. ;)

Admittedly I have posted stuff I own: as an example, shoes (http://rock-a-little.deviantart.com/art/Not-too-s-h-a-b-b-y-158810408). Heck, it's not even a good pic, but I have put some consideration into the overall 'feel' or vibe of the photo (if that makes any sense) and composition, even though it's not very good. ;)
I do agree with you, though. I know a few people doing the 365 challenge (in which you take a photo a day for 365 days) and the only photos they've taken are snapshots of stuff they have. I probably sound really critical, because as someone who's into pop culture I have a habit of doing it too, but I can often distinguish shots that belong to photo-sharing sites from da-worthy stuff, generally. That said, I do hate it when people use it as photobucket, rather a lot, it's a bit of a pet peeve, lol. I've mentioned this, but just too often you find people who just take random images from the web and post them on deviantart, often with no explanation either. I don't know. Even on tumblr, a picture-sharing site, I feel as though I have to find the original source when uploading an image, and you find a lot of people just take photos from people deviantart's or flickr's with no credit whatsoever.

I figured that was you :D

Someone in my class has got DA to, and her account was SO full of messages (500 per time she arrived) she had to take another (on the first she was doing cubees of celebs and contests and stuff).
Really, that's just... I dunno how you can get so far!
In case of me, I don't!:)
  6. Drtooth Well-Known Member

I don't know how someone could get that many either...

    (kicks over wastebasket).
  7. ilovemusic Active Member

No, she did make cubees of the band members of 30 seconds to mars, destine, greenday and Glee, and there are many fans of that.
It also like, glee or sth is though up-to-date. The muppet show is also, but it isn't on the television anymore. And I know a lot of people who only watch the television...
  8. Redsonga Active Member

Oh yeah if you are doing a lot of band things that is like 3/4 of DA fandom...

I will say this... sometimes I draw something popular and it gets unnoticed... sometimes I draw something semi-popular with the internet/nostalgic crowd it goes unnoticed for a while, but ALL the sudden people catch it. I did a Sam and Max piece a while back during Halloween, and all the sudden, all these people favorited it overnight a couple days ago. Sometimes if I do a Darkwing Duck piece, once the DW groups find it and ask to add it, I get all these hits.

Sometimes they don't add art to the search even if it has a keyword, it's weeeerid...

That's very true, I watch a lot of people whose gallery consists exclusively of drawings of musicians. That said, I'd like to dabble in a bit of that myself, though they'd have to be very cartoony and I do have difficulty drawing males, so I've been trying to work on that sort of. Anything music-related is the sort of fandom on dA I'm the most interested in (with the exception of band slash, lol, personally not my cup of tea but whatever floats your boat), so I'd like to work on some (I've only got rough drawings). Plus, Zeppelin fangirls are a riot. And you should see the Roger Daltrey fans on tumblr.

I also thought that in the beginning.
For example, you post a pic of Kermit. When you put it online, you search for ´kermit muppets´and click on ´newest´.
Nope. That´s because of they just have to add it to the list, that take serveral minutes. I don´t know if that´s your prob?
  13. Drtooth Well-Known Member

Yeah... newest is the way to go. Often times I'll get stuck in the way back when I use most popular.
  14. Sgt Floyd Well-Known Member

I have a series of dragons drawn to look like musicians...but I'm not sure how much I want to upload them :smirk:

They are all good...except my alice cooper dragon. he looks a bit disturbed, so its not that. I'm just kinda...protective of my dragons :p

You know what REALLY has bugged me lately? I escape to DA FROM the mindless, immature, fear mongering, completely untrue bitter political stool... and guess what i find there? That's right! Mindless, immature, fear mongering, completely untrue bitter political stool! Yeah... I'm loving this country right now.
  16. Redsonga Active Member

That's why I just draw, I don't go into the forums or pay much mind to others blogs...
  17. Drtooth Well-Known Member

Nah... nah... it's always in some dork's favorites. I ALWAYS check the page of anyone who favorited stuff... and frankly, I'm glad people favorite my stuff, but I do NOT want it next to some cheap stolen facebook sticker quality "Commie Obamy" psss and moaning.

I'm not on facebook, the only blogs I read are Muppet fan ones, I try very hard not to read any Yahoo news stories (EVERYTHING is the fault of "evil socialists" even Charlie Sheen getting fired from 2 and a half Men!)... I come there to SHARE artwork with some talented people... not to see how a marshmallow fisted wimp apparently rules the country with fear . Seriously... if 10% of the stuff they say is true, they couldn't SAY 10% of the stuff they say. It's annoying, and it's like... it's like teenage girls making up rumors about girls they don't like. Only teenage girls GROW OUT OF IT!

A fav is a fav, I don't really mind who likes my work :3. I do look at everyones pages, but I don't judge them on it...
  19. Drtooth Well-Known Member

I don't judge either, but it's ANNOYING that the internet became a place where middleaged dorks can whine about stuff like that non-stop. I mean, freedom of speech, right to opinion is one thing... but passive aggressive teenage girl bullying never solved anything, and it's just unpleasant to see every 2 seconds. It's EVERYWHERE, and I can't take it anymore.

Only people who make any freaking sense anymore just don't care. And I'm becoming one of them.

I just posted a nice little comment about said people on my page. Though, I stress no one under the age of 13 look at it.

Really, bitterness KILLS your soul. Turst me on that! It almost destroyed me.
