Thoughts... Episode 4100: What Happens Next, Grouch Style.

The episode had a good premise, Oscar getting out of his trash can to bring the grouchiness across the world through his own scientific game show. The gags were reminiscent of his old trickster self... Getting Alan messy with the dive by Slimey into the mud pie, the fan blowing everything away at the Mail-It-Shop, and then Little Joey smashing through the wall to get the peanuts.
Though frankly, I was half-expecting Fluffy at that point.

Other Highlights.
1 Classic Animation: Splasho the Diver.
2 Classic Song: Everybody Sleeps.
3 Song: Elmo and this lady singing the alphabet, prefer the operetta from a classic SS episode I have on tape.
4 Letter of the Day: R Rap, predicted this one letter would be it yesterday. That leaves L and M for the two-part season finale.
5 Song: Take a Brake by Big Bird and Elmo. Maybe Snuffy could've been in it instead. Anyone notice Telly bouncing by on his pogo stick near the end?
6 Grover talking to a girl named Sarah about being Quiet. The best was that Grover said he enjoys some quiet time after playing with his friends, Herry and Cookie Monster.
That'll make a certain person at the dorms happy.
7 Fruit/Vegetable of the Day: Broccoli. Kinda like these bits, just so long as they keep 'em short and sweet like this. Frankly, the fruit/veggie/whatever dance from the first portion of the season was annoying to me.
8 Jane Tuesday about eating her R red raspberries.
9 Elmo's World: Jumping, New. Was there a rap during the TV segment? And another groaner pun... The Jump-Along Cassidy Show.

An OK episode, only the finale's left now in December.

The singer was India.Arie.

Yep, Telly was there, as was Zoe.

Another highlight was that John Kennedy did a rare vocal stint as the pogo stick.

Little Joey? I never knew that elephant was named. I was sort of expecting Fluffy too, but I guess that would have been hard to do considering only Fluffy's trunk was ever seen on the show. They needed the full-body elephant to do that trick.

Gosh. I'm a little behind. I still didn't see "Super Chicken" or "The Grouch Apprentice." I also probably missed quite a few Bert, Ernie and Grover segments since a lot of new eps were made in September. The pledge drives interrupted quite a few of those.

Actually, someone has previously mentioned in one of the threads that they could use Kermit in old clips, just not in anything new unless "Sesame Workshop" spent a few bucks to borrow him from "Henson Productions." After all, "Plaza Sesamo" proves this since Kermit is on that one regularly and both "Sesame Streets" are owned by the same people.

Yeah, I was the one who said it, actually.

Still haven't seen Grouch Apprentice either, but I got all the characters from there already. Looking forward to it nonetheless, and the parody of 24 in the finale.

Wow. I haven't seen that "tree fashin show" in years! You're right; Jim played Ernie then.

Yes, BB was rebuilt last year, and he has more feathers above his eyes. (Not that bad of a design; I like it). I think Telly was re-built/re-designed about five years ago. His fur is a bit shaggier and darker, too.
The bear on the forest fashion thing looke an awful lot like an early Baby Bear even thow that was obviously before he was on the show.

Comments on "Super Chicken"

Now that I've seen the "Super Chicken" episode, I can comment on that one. First of all, starting with the opening. How would Telly know about Trash Gordon? He must have been listening in on Slimey's bedtime stories. Hmmmm.
About the street plot. I can see where Super Chicken has potential to be a recurring character. Perhaps he could be in a scene with Cookie Monster where he's pigging out on cookies and Super Chicken's eating popcorn and they talk about how they like different foods. Another thing I thought about. When Super Grover said he needed a songwriter to make up a song for him, that would have been a good time for Don Music to make a come back. He wouldn't have had to bang his head on the piano. He could have just sang the words, like Miles and the kids did. I also liked Oscar's version of "Bein' Green." I'll have to look at the lyrics again, so I can remember how that song goes.

for a while there I thought it was funny to see SG down on his luck. he never really was a super hero anyways. To bad Super chicken gave in to his urges. funny how Gabby & Miles called Oscar Beautiful. hated Oscar's version of being green. a good example of what Rosewood pointed out.

I didn't mind Oscar's version of the song too much. Atleast he made reference to Kermit as sort of a tribute to him. We all know it's Kermit's song to begin with but the song speaks on so many levels that it can play to anyone's life questioning. Oscar just made it to suit himself. It was still different in my opinion. It's not like the sharing song that was first done by Ernie and Cookie (who are still around) and do the exact same scene, pretty much the same script and all, with Zoe and Elmo, or Elmo and Ernie. Why not use Ernie and Cookie again. I don't really get it either. Oh that Sesame Workshop. They are so silly.:stick_out_tongue:
