Doo doo doo, here comes the water...

My fave is the bonus episode "Let The Water Run"!:excited:
That episode always makes me thirsty:big_grin:

By the way, look for a "Junior Blooper" (at least I think it is) in this episode. Junior follows Pa to the castle, and trips on the low garden wall. He says "Daddy the General...ooomph!" Do you think the trip and the "ooomph!" were scripted? I don't.

Also, think of this: the "Royal Bath" needs lots of water. Think of how big the Gorgs are supposed to be compared to humans...like 30 feet tall, right? Okay, the Gorgs pump the water from the well, which comes from the Fraggle Pond, which comes from the pipes, which come from Doc's workshop, right? All that water comes from Doc!

For everyone wishing for extras on Fraggle DVD's, maybe we'll be surprised in the future of a "deleted scene" from this episode. It would show Doc fainting after getting a whopping huge water bill! LOL!

I just got it a few minutes ago after a long and painful Wal-Mart drive. The audio from "Let The Water Run" plays fine on my computer. Pingu is only 5 minutes and I hate how they merged the episodes together.

I politely told the woman over the phone that this made absolutely no sense. I put in my request with her to please release the series in boxed sets. I mentioned that Fraggle Rock only has five seasons, so they could easily be put together and released over a period of just two, perhaps three years. I also put in a request with her for “Down at Fraggle Rock: Behind the Scenes” to be one of the “extras” for the fall release.
It may make "absolutely no sense" to you but it makes a lot of sense for HIT. They are absolutely NOT a company that specialises or even occasionally puts cult TV shows onto DVD for specialist collectors. They are a pre-school company starting to branch out a bit into more family entertainment which is part of the reason why they aquired classic Henson properties at the same time as signing the co-production deal for "Frances". They are making these for families who want to spend a few dollars for a few episodes of an old show the adults remember and to entertain their kids. These are the kind of people browsing Walmart for something cheap and cool - majority of them probably wouldn't spend $30-$40 as easily on season by season sets. Sure, HIT are interested to see what the ratio of casual buyers vs hardcore collectors is to get a feel of how they should balance and edit the releases but in reality it's much more likely that the casual Walmart shoppers massively out number the fans and HIT will want to appeal to as many buyers over a wider consumer base as possible.

I don't have a problem with it. Seeing there is a moderate hardcore fan base will probably mean they leave the stuff on the DVD's in their original format in future and provide a few good extras. While there is the thought to put them out in seasons it'll be the additional support of the $10-$20 a time casual shopper that will mean the sales numbers should be good enough to actually continue the releases for us all. I imagine they'll probably come to a compromise with about 8 episodes per DVD release put out in season order.

I have to wait until this coming Tuesday to get mine, but that's fine with me!

Not worried about the merged episodes, it's a test DVD. Maybe when it's re-released w/extras, THEN it'll be available everywhere else?

I think Wal*Mart is a great place to test the market, as mostly EVERYWHERE has a Wal*Mart that everyone shops at to get the lowest prices on stuff, 'specially DVD's!

I don't think I'll get this DVD except on sale, but I'm glad it's out there. I know a lot of people have wanted it for a long time.

Um, not to be a smarty on this one... but the DVD's are like what $9? Isn't that like a sale in itself? And DVD's start off as on sale when they're first released. After that, they jack the prices up. I know that this isn't like movie theatre material so they may not jack up the prices. Its cheap enough. What more can you ask for?

new england stores?

has anybody from new england [especially nh] found the dvd? i went to the super walmart in salem yesterday hoping they'd have it. i couldn't find it anywhere, but maybe they'll get it today. although, i was hoping they'd put it out early like they did with the garfield new release [oops, guess they don't check release dates]. i'm going to the derry one today, but i doubt they will carry it because they have a much smaller entertainment section.

for those of you who have bought it: where did you find it? was it in a 4-way fixture, a dvd dump? or was it on the movie wall..

thanks
