Money in general is a bad idea -- everybody's greedy over it. Some people want to keep it all for themselves, and some people want those with more to help them compensate for their lack.

Yikes, dude. Hate is unacceptable. I don't agree with most of the Dems' ideas, but I don't hate them. When it comes down to it, we're all people and politics is only one part of how we function. There are higher purposes in life.

Why? If I have to explain then obviously my words are going to fall on deaf ears. I mean if you can't see for yourself that George W. Bush is the worst president in history than nothing I say is going to convince you.

I could go on for hours about how much I hate Bush and why he must go but to sum up the three most important points:

1. He's a liar

2. He's a warmonger

3. He's a *bleep*ing idiot!!!!

any one of those three make him a lousy choice all three combined make him the worst posisble choice.

Am I sure Kerry is the best man for the job? No, but I am positive that Bush is the worst.

Right. And, strict party affiliation, regardless of the party, can be a narrowing thing. I've been around a long time now and been through a lot of Presidential elections. I've remained a registered Independent since I became eligible to vote in 1975. Sometimes I've voted Republican, sometimes Democrat, and sometimes for Independent candidates. I've always voted for the person I thought would best take this country in the directions necessary for it at the given time, never because of party loyalty. And there have been a couple of elections when I consciously did not cast any vote because I could not do so in good faith.

I've seen some truly frightening candidates from both sides of the aisle; the top two would have to be Pat Buchanan, Republican, arch-right-wing conservative, who did not make it, and Jimmy Carter, leftie Democrat who did. The trees of ALL parties produce their fair share of fruits, nuts or seeds (depending on your point of view.) Both the Democratic and Republican parties have brought benefits, and grief, to their nation. Less stone throwing and more positive action would be refreshing, not just on these forums but in our world. We can still pressure our representatives and indeed our Presidents to do the right things - that's up to us. Despite all the gripe and all the hype, it is still We the People. It's just that We have gotten lazy and don't exercise our power anymore. I'd rather see people get busy, get productive when they're really upset by something, than just make a bunch of noise about it.

Let's Plan For Peace

This thread has had many heated moments over the past few months. Now that this election is FINALLY coming to a close (sometime between now and Christmas ), there will be temptation on the side of the winning candidate to rub victory in the face of those supporting their opponent. Likewise, there will be temptation on the side supporting the candidate who is not sworn in to complain and blame those who voted in favor of the newly elected President for "bringing the world to an end", or some such nonsense.

I would like to submit right now that we ALL refrain from any of this. Everyone has made their opinions known and it would be redundant and destructive to taunt or complain. Let's be good sports about this and take hold of the next four years in the all-embracing Muppet spirit.
