What's Wrong with Sweatpants?

I am still wearing my sweatpants from my trip to the gym this afternoon.

Just sayin' they're comfy. I'm going to keep wearing them all day while cleaning my apartment. I often choose a pair to wear around the house, but mainly it's jeans outside unless I'm making a quick trip to the corner market for some Diet Coke and fishy crackers (they are the perfect food).

I keep noticing how skinny today's skinny jeans are getting. I'm a lean fellow, but man! Some of these skinny jean wearing guys have legs thinner than my sleeves and I have relatively trim arms too. I usually go with regular Levis for jeans. Otherwise I get stuck with these skinny jeans that get stuck on my calves or boot cut jeans that really are just slightly more conservative bell-bottoms.

I used to wear PJ bottoms to class occasionally, lol. I became famous for it lol (though I was actually far from the first!)

Actually since people are complaining about shorts, I'll in turn say I don't like swatpants because they tend to make me look even shorter, lol, and I need all the height I can get!

And yeah it's true, jeans are getting quite tight!

I think it boils down to being a matter of choice, I mean, if people want to wear certain things out of doors, then they should have the right to. I probably wear more t-shirt dresses because they are comfortable. If people stopped approving of my wearing them outside, I wouldn't stop because they are my thing and in the summer, they are really comfy.

My mother-in-law is big on fashion, and she keeps up with the trends a lot better than I do, but when I moved here, I had to adapt myself to certain cultural norms. It wasn't that different than when I was in the US, but there were certain things that people didn't do back then. Wearing sweat pants in public was one of those things. Today, people here wear them.

I guess like with sweat pants, my tastes have changed a bit since coming here, but I still have my days where comfort goes above all other things. Like today. I'm sitting here in a pair of sweat pants writing this message. So, maybe I haven't changed all that much.

Shorts may look nice on females, but they should be off-limits to males!

I have to disagree with you there. I wear shorts all the time around the house but I rarely wear them outside.

I actually think jeans are comfortable. (I think I'm the weirdo of this thread, lol ). But jeans are all I've ever really worn, so it's the feeling I'm used to.

I'm telling you, if I went to a school where they forced kids to wear uniforms, I'd drop out.

I've been to a couple of schools who made you were uniforms. I have to tell you that it really does make children behave better. But that is no reason to drop out of school, Snowthy.

All very important things of course. But I think if a person is really an individual, they'll shine no matter what they're wearing (as I'm sure you do, as I'm sure we all do). The fact that it was more a challenge in a uniform school made it more gratifying. And again, you didn't have to worry about who was rich and who wasn't.

I mean, Richard Hunt seemed to dress pretty normally most of the time, but obviously it was his personality that made him stand out.
