:grouchy:

I'm really bummed I didn't order one off the Sesame Workshop site yesterday. I was going to go ahead and get one for myself. $40 is a bit out of my budget right now, but now there's NO way I'll get one.

just went to Kevin Clash booksigning last saturday and saw him for the first time in 9 years (I was an intern on season 29)....

oh well....

ITs a hott toy... hence the high price. Everyone wants it and the sellers pretty much bought one for people who didn't get it... only issue is... you have to show how much you want it pretty much.

You say the seller bought one for for for people who didn't git one. But that's why sellers like Wal-Mart and Toys-R-US put them out, becaues really, to strat out with, nobody had one.

just like Wal-mart and Target... they're making profit. Toys R Us's price is $39.99, where as Wal-Mart's is $34.88... Amazon.com has it for $100.... so even they are making profit. THey're getting them cheaper then you. So, really, its a buisness. If you want it, you have to buy it from the price its being sold at... if not... make yer own.

Wal-mart buys it from someone to sell for a cheap price... but they sell out. So thats why sellers buy from wal-mart to save what they can, for people who dont have a shot at getting there in time. Just like the store, people can buy items on ebay, BUT since theres only one item that the seller is selling, they "auction" it off to whoever wants it the most.

Anyone else have an issue with their Elmo? Maybe it needs to be on FLATTER ground... but on my rug, he tips over when getting back up... (i tried my bed first but yea thats where i first noticed he tips back while gittin up).

He gets up WAY too fast i think.

I love how he "rolls around" anyone else notice that? not only does he kick n such, but curls on his side as well. lol this is a great toy... ahem without the fact that he has trouble stand'n back up.

To me the problem isn't that there is a new Elmo doll. Its the fact that they over market this thing and attempt to make it into the "next big thing" for the holidays. Think about it...10 years ago the doll went big because of the mention on "The Rosie O'Donnel" show. She used to have a lot of Muppet merchandise on her hosting desk and would show it off often. This new Elmo doll isn't going to get as much buzz unless some celebrity claims they love it.

I also have a question about this version that still lingers from 10 years of pondering. How much value should be place on a specific toy? I'm not going into a gripe about the commercialism of the holidays, but rather the value the adults place on certain toys. Honestly, I don't think kids would care which doll they got during the holidays unless an adult (their parents, their friend's parents, relatives, etc.) really stress the importance of that specific Elmo doll. What's disappointing is that major media is already acting upon this story as if the product has hit sales gold. After a decade of wanting a Tickle Me Elmo, how many people that want one don't already have one? At least some version of Elmo resides in the homes of people that WANT an Elmo doll already, right?

One final rant...the function of this doll seems a bit off. It falls on the floor and slaps its knee and laughs? You'd think they'd push the tickle aspect farther, but the fact that you can totally let go of it makes me think its just a show piece, much like those singing snowmen and Santa decor dolls Hallmark releases every Christmas. Very much a preformance piece and not so much a toy. I question the longevity of play with this toy after the holiday season. I recall with the old Elmo dolls, many went on eBay because so many people bought them and grew tired of them. As parents can attest, the novelity of dolls that make sounds is short.

I wanted to add that my opinion of this doll has nothing to do with this being a Muppet doll. I think we're all fans on here and my feelings have little to do with the character, just the Elmo TMX doll as a toy. What do you think?
