yeah, like in Brawl, SOnic takes off speeding from a standstill. He couldnt run that fast let alone start running that fast in the genesis games

Have you played Sonic 1's Marble Hill zone? You cant tell me that its possible to speed through that level. If you did, I would tell you your insane.

And more so in S&K do you need to take your time to avoid running into something that can kill you

Right. And in the early Sonic cartoons & in the early issues of the comics, Sonic's reckless behavior has constantly harmed him or someone close to him. I mean, Sonic is fast--yes--but he shouldn't be barreling through things when it's liable to cost him dearly, nor should he just be regulated to his speed, for he does have a brain (though it may be filled with thoughts about chili dogs or his on-again-off-again relationship with Sally [or anyone else he has a lasting attachment too], he needs it to be at its best in times of crisis).

On to a different subject, I find it funny that in Olympic Games, Sonic has floaties on his arms during the swimming event. At least they rememberd that sonic cant swim :stick_out_tongue:

but back to speed.

In SatSR, you start off going relativly slow with bad acceleration, I would say worse acceleration but about the same speed as in the genesis games. But as you go on, you learn skills. Some skills raise your acceleration and some speed. Any improved acceleration is good, but you never want the highest speed you can go on because you are very likely going to run into something like a cactus or a spikey ball. Things come so fast on you that you have no time to react. Breaking doesnt help that much either, because you will slide. Speed can be BAD

He can swim, if needed, but his swimming ability is of something to be desired. This is why they have bubbles-with-breathing abilities located in respective places in the classic Sonic games.

erm...I was meaning that he cant physically swim. He sinks and walks on the bottom of whatever body of water he is in. I dont really consider that swimming :stick_out_tongue:

and that being said *pokes signature*

He can. In Sonic 2's water levels, there's time where he has to avoid spikes, arrow shooting gargoyles, and submerged robots whilst still be underwater. So, it seems to me that he'd have to be able to swim in order to avoid any of those things.
