Looks good. There is however one area i can easily foresee being a bit of a logistical problem:

Five nominees will be selected and presented to you, the voters, in each category. (Except The Muppet Central Forum Lifetime Achievement Award, which will only have three nominees.)
I think you can strive to do this when possible, but i can already tell you, the votes won't always lend themselves to where this can always be done. Sometimes you may get lucky and five choices that clearly get more than the others but you'll also have ones where you end up with less than five people in the easier categories but more likely you'll have scenarios like:

3 votes for choice a, 3 votes for choice b, 2 votes for choice c, 2 votes for choice d, 2 votes for choice e, 2 votes for choice f with all other votes being one each - lending itself to six nominations

For things like best post, there may be a whole bunch of single votes...20 people voting with all 20 choosing something different.

So five is a good number to shoot for but you won't be able to cleanly do so for each category.

Okay, well, I finally was able to reactivate my photo software, so if anyone hasn't done the awards, I'd like to work on them today, if that's okay.

That's absolutely fine! If you'd like to mock something up we can present it to the committee and I'm sure from there we'll be honored to have you designing the awards! If you need some ideas, take a look at the old Award ceremony threads for design and such. http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=46474

Thanks Kelly! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

I've cast my ballot. It's not much but...

EDIT: Now I've got an email saying that there was an error. Please tell me you got it! I didn't save it and can't remember who I voted for!

I'm half way done with my ballot, I have gotten side tracked with reading a fan fic. I never knew that what talent we really had here on this forum. I must say the fic I'm reading is very good, and my hope is that it will be able to get my vote.

Dear Muppet Fans,

It is with extreme disappointment and regret that I have to announce that, as of today, The Muppet Central Forum Awards have been canceled for 2011. I apologize to everyone who has already put in hard work for this year's awards, including dwayne1115, Aaron, and RedPiggy. We also apologize for those very few of you who filled out ballots and submitted them. Unfortunately, there were less than ten ballots submitted and less than three of those were filled out completely.

With such a small turn out it is virtually impossible to hold the awards this year. We can't possibly declare winners or even nominees when we have such a small turn out. We've really exercised every option we can... we've posted the thread, we've listened to voter requests for a nomination system, yet somehow we simply can't entice people to vote. I feel that I have exercised all of my options here and this was the year I was planning to distance myself away from the awards anyway--for the same reasons we're having to cancel this year.

Once again, I apologize for this decision, but I, personally, have reached the last leg and I can no longer keep beating a dead horse when no one will show up to vote or support it and when a seven year institution such as this can't be recognized by forum staff.

So consider this my exit from The Muppet Central Forum Awards as organizer/host. This officially opens it up to anyone else who might be interested in organizing the Awards. If a decision is made I can pass along all the work I have from past Awards to the new organizer.

Once again... I apologize for the cancellation, but unfortunately I just can't stick with something that such a small group of members only partially support. I, and the rest of The Muppet Central Forum Awards committee, thank you for that support.

Prawn out!

Okay, then. I'll pick up the gauntlet.

I believe the awards can be salvaged. I'm more than willing to pick up from Ryan in regards to overseeing the awards but just in terms of the awards tabulation element - those who volunteered to host the ceremony and do the presentation thread i'm going to assume are still "in" unless they say otherwise.

Give me a short while to review everything and then i'll make an announcement later this week in regards to new deadlines, any changes in rules, etc. This happened last year where the awards almost didn't happen but then a few people got the excitement stirred up, the fans came through and the awards were some of the best to date.

In the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions for improvements? I can't guarantee i'll use them all but if it's a good idea worth persuing, i'll consider it. Are there awards that should be added? (I suggested a "Best Insider" award last year that wasn't included this year which i'll probably add to the ballot.)

I do hope these awards can be salvaged. I'd understand if they couldn't, though. It seems as though this forum hasn't been as lively lately as it has been in the past. If the awards can't be done this year, then perhaps we can pick up in early 2011. After the movie comes out there ought to be a lot more activity on the forum.

As for getting people to vote, perhaps updating this thread daily as the deadline approaches with an "X more days to vote" reminder and a link to the posts with the rules and form, might help keep it in people's minds, avoid the "out of sight, out of mind" problem.

Out of curiosity, I noticed that there are "best fan artist" and "best fanfic" categories, but no "best fan art" or "best fan writer" categories. Is there a specific reason for that?
