Yes... Beaker was meeping away happily, building sandcastles and waterskiing all over the place.

The steadfast tin soldier and the ballerina doll, I've seen it in animated special form, it rully is a hauntingly beautiful tale.

Erin... It would be the JHH that'd've been on the air in that era. But it's your dream, so who knows what was on the air in 1988/1989-early 90's in your subconscious slumbering haven.

That's true, that's true...but I don't think Richard was a regular on the Jim Henson Hour; during that era, he was busy with SS and the Ghost of Faffner Hall and ten million other things.

The show I saw in my dream was marked as the Muppet Show, but it might have been a cross between TMS and JHH. And my subconscious has no real sense of time, so it's no big deal.

But yeah, it would have been fun to see Jim and the gang do something like what I saw.

Well... Richard did perform both Beaker and Statler in the rare instances that they appeared on JHH, you might find more at Muppet Wiki.

Yeah, and he also played Crash during the Inner Tube segments. And I read that he played Sweetums on one show.

The whole show seems to have been an opportunity for the Muppet gang to do some more experimental stuff.

Yep, it kind of was. If you get a chance to talk to KermiClown and get yourself a copy of the JHH episodes he has, do so. You might also have to get the full DVD set of The Storyteller with all nine stories on it separately though. Hope this helps.

The Jim Henson Hour was definitely unique. When it was on I didn't realize it was a TV show and just figured there were a ton of Muppet specials at that time! It wasn't perfect but it had potential. Actually it was a good example of quality television that never had a chance. Like the Labyrinth, it's more of a "cult following" sort of show.

In other news, someone on the board just pointed out to me a video interview Bob McGrath did a couple years ago. At one point, he mentions why some characters occasionally disapeared from the show. He says Richard Hunt was a "fantastic puppeteer" and his characters were "so unique to him" that he couldn't be easily replaced. That was nice because you rarely hear the SS cast speak about the muppeteers!

I do wish they'd stick in more classic clips on to the show, even mixed with the 'modern' stuff. Based on my experience, I really don't buy into the idea that kids today don't like them. (Not that I want to start that debate here, lol.) One instance was when I saw a kid at the library asking for a SS tape that featured Gladys. She didn't look away because there were no 'new' characters on the cover. I was glad to be able to recommend it. All I'm saying is, why can't the old and new live together without conflict? That's what the show is about after all.

Anyway, I found the interview clips on google video. Just type 'Sesame Street Bob McGrath.' It's a four part interview, the Richard mention is in Part 3.

Oh I've always loved Bob too. Such a great voice and he was always so normal and reliable on the show, lol. And the interview overall was really interesting, especially learning about his early career.

It is good to hear there wasn't too much ego or conflicts on the set, that's pretty rare.

He always was very reliable. Everybody's favorite is always Gordon wheh I ask them. I love Gordon, But I have to say that Bob is my favorite!

I haven't watched Sesame Street in an eternity and a half, so my memories of the human cast are a little hazy.

Mom told me that she just got a new computer for her office at work...and its official system name is Sweetums, because "it's big and hairy and I can't figure it out." She told me that she got the idea from me, since my computer's system name is Scooter.
