All went well...sure, there was the usual mob of crazies honking air horns and bellowing at the top of their lungs, not to mention the traffic to and from where they were holding this thing...but I got the story filed this afternoon with minimal angst.

Well, somebody up there must hate me or something...

After all that crap last weekend, I had made the comment to myself; really just thinking it honestly. Well, not that comment, but this one: "What else can go wrong?"

I really, really shouldn't have thought that probably. This past Thursday, June 12th; we had to put Bridget, my chihuahua, to sleep. It's just...oh god, why? I've lost my car, my job (at Voc Rehab) has been put on hold for two weeks, and now my dog is dead.

I feel like I'm living in some strange country song. Like the kind that you sing and dogs howl along with you.

Well, we now have a huge hole in our hearts without our little one....not to seem like we're replacing our Bridgette (or Bridget, as I always spelled it) we've found another dog through Project Pet that seems right I guess.

The link below has Project Pet's description for the adoptable dog that we're thinking of maybe getting.

Pequena

And for those of reduced visual capacity here's the text on that picture of Pequena:

She's a standard chi, fawn or pale tan colorings, she's wrapped in a pink, fluffy blanket, and appears to have her ears clipped a bit. She has the most beautiful large brown doe eyes I've ever seen on a chi.

How sad. But hopefully, like other country songs say, you can bounce back.

Oh, no...I know what it means to lose a dog, Sara, and it looks as if many of us around here do. It's one of the worst things in the world, 'cause let's face it, animals don't judge us the way people do.

You and your family have my sympathies, and rest assured that Bridgette's in dog heaven right about now.

My prayers are with your family regarding your dog! It does seem a lot of us have had to deal with that. It's still very hard with my dog not being around. I've had a few comforting dreams, which is great, but it's still hard. Hang in there!

Me too - a few nights after we lost Marta, I dreamed that she and Toby were trying to filch food off of the kitchen table. And it was rather comforting. It also really helps to make a memorial of sorts; we've marked Marta's grave with two trees (a dogwood and a Japanese maple), a rhododendron and a small statue of St. Francis.

Aw, I'm so sorry to hear that, Sara. A friend of my neighbor's just had to put her dog to sleep, too. It's so sad.

Hang in there... Bridget will always be with you. And if you get Pequena, I know you'll give her a great home!

I'm deeply sorry for your loss Sara. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
