Quick, get the woman to a freezer!

But, yes, Richard does tend to have that effect on the (female) members of the RHLC. It is worth thinking over - I mean, what makes Richard so appealing? Other than the fact that he was an all-out joker and a very tuneful singer, he had a brain in his head, he was good with kids, he wasn't all that bad-looking...

I've been taking in a few (okay, maybe a bit more than a few) episodes of FR3. So far, I think my favorites are "The Battle of Leaking Roof," "Wembley and the Mean Genie" and "The Society of the Poohbahs."

Aw, let the woman melt, it's fun! Hehe ::melts::

Hmm,well in the past I've always been interested in people who were more like me, shy and quiet. He's the first person I've enjoyed who is in many ways the opposite. So I think I've moved past looking for interests that match who I am, and moved toward interests that inspire me to be more.

Those are definitely some of my favorites too. I actually got to see the Poohbahs episodes a couple years ago because my library had some individual DVDs and VHSs. It's just a feel good episode and the humor sort of harkens back to classic Muppet humor. And it's always great to see Jim work on Fraggle Rock, you realize how much you miss his characters when he's not there. And he and Richard always work well together.

(I already posted the following statements in the FR thread, but in case anyone didn't see!)

I remember watching "Mean Genie" for the first time years ago and being quite traumatized. It's still pretty scary now, but in a very different way. Wembley learns that if you stay silent, evil will flourish.

I think "Believe it Or Not" contains one of the most hard hitting lines (and themes) of the entire series, "It's all your fault he's a monster, you monster!" Skenrith may look scary while a monster, but what's truly frightening is how closed minded and smug Ma Gorg is behaving. So much of our reality depends on our own point of view. You can't let fear keep you from understanding a person or group. (Though I don't entirely blame Ma Gorg, considering the two wimps she has to live with! Hehe)

Gobo learns selflessness the hard way in "Grapes of Generosity," lol. It's always nice for me to see Gobo occasionally make mistakes and paic, after always being so brave and perfect. I found the reaction of the other Fraggles interesting when they discover the mess Gobo got himself into. You would think they'd be shocked and scold him for his selfishness. Instead...they laugh! The attitude seems to be, "Oh boy, look at what you got yourself into! Lol" A friend of mine pointed out "Fraggely" their reaction is. After all you wouldn't expect the Doozers, the Gorgs or even Doc and Sprocket to reacte that way.

"Bored Still" is just utterly adorable. Especially as we discover Junior's surprising affection for the Fraggles. Actually it does make sense when you think about it; Junior rarely gets to have fun, he's too busy taking orders from his parents. Chasing Fraggles offers some relief from his bosy father with his never ending commands. Junior's basically a child being raised to hate another group. He's also a very lonely creature. The Fraggles could be his friends, but he's been taught that they're the enemy. Plus, it must be fun to dominate over smaller creatures after always being pushed around himself.

Still, this episode proves he still has a mind of his own and perhaps this could be the beginning of a beautiful (if unusual) friendship.

Thanks for the review heralde, I absolutely know which ones to watch first now. =)

I had one question...there was this short clip I found:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6p5OnQnIdrU

And in the tags it says Jerry Nelson and Steve Whitmire. However, the guy on the piano sounds way more like Richard. Now if anyone would be able to tell the difference, it would be you guys. Can anyone?

Aw, glad I could help, Meep!

That's definitely Richard, not sure why someone thought it was Steve. On the other hand, not everyone listens to this stuff over and over again, hehe (and that's probably a good thing  ).

This song's nice but the cobwebs on the guy's hat always grossed me out, lol.

Yeah, I knew the lead singer was Jerry - couldn't decide if the piano player was Jim or Richard. Mom said she didn't think it was either one of them.

I like how "Of Muppets and Men" described them:
"All right, this is sung with three miserable, depressed wretches."
"Two miserable, depressed wretches."
"That's right - the third one died and now they're even more depressed."

Lol, that sketch cracks me up. And actually, I could never figure out fer sure who the piano player was, either. Definitely never thought it was Steve, though, but always thought it being Richard made sense. Awesome to know. And it's really true, if anyone can figure out if a certain character's performed and/or voiced by Richard, it's us RHLC-ers!

Oh, and I love that part in "Of Muppets and Men," Erin, lol! That's great!

It does make sense that it's Richard; it says in Of Muppets and Men that song sketches were often crafted specifically for Jerry and Richard together, since they were the best singers.

The piano player does sound a little like Jim, like one of his goofy pompous voices. But he's also got that NY/NJ accent Richard sometimes has (including as the Mean Genie). I'm going to say it's Richard.

"Two miserable, depressed wretches." Lol, yup that pretty much sums it up! I wonder if it's a British song, like many of the Muppet Show UK spots were. Probably most of the UK spots were British, but I can't confirm if they all were. ::shrugs::

Look what I found!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=wEAdJxk7u08

What an amazing day for Richard that must have been; he gets to talk with Bill Cosby and then sing with his "name sake", opera singing Placido Domingo!

It's not on youtube anymore, but there was another clip once of an interview where Placido Domingo discussed his appearance on Sesame Street. He said his Flamingo name sake kept telling everyone on set, "Here comes the imposter!" LOL
I love that! Man I miss the old days!

Interesting dream, makes sense since we were talking about that recently. Actually that's a good segueway...hehe...

The person who posted this clip says it was one of Jim Henson's last Sesame Street clips. The message of the song is lovely and surprisingly poignant (and very much in line with Richard's speech)

(Btw, I've been looking for this song forever, it's just gorgeous. Especially towards the end when all the other character go "La la la". )
WOW! That's just such an amazing song and makes me start to tear up. I miss Jim so much!

I know everybody's seen this like a million times before but i just had to Post this Placido clip!

Well, Scooter did "There's a New Sound" on one of the UK spots, and then there were all of the classical pieces Rowlf did. But the UK spots gave the Muppet crew to do a lot of music hall numbers - some of which might not fly on network television in the U.S. (see also: Waiting at the Church...can you imagine what kind of jokes the Muppeteers were making off camera over that one?)

Another Muppet dream last night - Scooter was standing in front of the red TMS curtain and talking to the audience. He had with him some bizarre-looking stage prop made of gears, pulleys, scrap wood and assorted odds and ends. It must have been part of a sketch he and the others were going to do.
And down below Scooter and the prop, you could clearly see Richard, from about the shoulders up. He periodically made faces at the camera, and he was wearing a green jacket identical to Scooter's. (but he wasn't wearing his microphone, for some reason)
