It was kind of the same on FR, during the "Rev" sessions. Richard said to Dave, "You know, I admire you. I don't know why," and rolled his eyes, as Kathy starts laughing.
Lol, yes I love that part! Richard does seem to love getting on Dave's case in a good natured way. It does sound like he's trying to help Dave say his "Rev" lines with the proper "timing" as Kathy puts it, hehe. And in the "Scared Silly" segment Kathy also seems to love Steve and Dave being labeled "scaredy cats." lol Reminds me of that quote of how Richard felt good natured teasing was an act of love. Perhaps Kathy was a subscriber to that as well.

Oh, and about the quilt - she thought the idea was pretty cool. I keep a photo of it in the cover of my notebook for that class - something cheerful to look at with the threat of a pop quiz hanging over you, don't you know - so perhaps I'll show it to her.
Too true, I used to put all sorts of photos from my interests on my books or folders. It does cheer you up when the day gets rough, hehe. Even better when it's a picture of something you made.

I have seen that one, but thanks for posting, Meep! And it possibly confirms what I often suspected. That 1st season Janice's voice was sometimes dubbed in after the fact.

I think I've seen that photo before, too.

Last night, I dreamed that Richard had given yet a third speech at Jim's memorial, and that I was listening to a recording of it. He did make a few jokes, as I recall, but I think his emotions started to get the better of him - you could hear it in his voice, and there was a long pause at one point.

Interesting dream, makes sense since we were talking about that recently. Actually that's a good segueway...hehe...

The person who posted this clip says it was one of Jim Henson's last Sesame Street clips. The message of the song is lovely and surprisingly poignant (and very much in line with Richard's speech)

(Btw, I've been looking for this song forever, it's just gorgeous. Especially towards the end when all the other character go "La la la". )

So that was one of Jim's last clips? You're right - that is really poignant. Kermit's wondering about "the world up there," and in a short while, the man playing him will be going there.

And yes, it does fit in really well with Richard's speech. In both, you see the importance of just stopping what you're doing so you can see what's around you. We've got Kermit looking up at the sun in the clouds, and Richard sitting in the woods and listening to the birds sing...it's very healthy, and very refreshing. Sort of a way of hitting the pause button on life for a bit.

Glad you liked it, Beau, and thanks for posting!

Ok, I had the idea to write to puppeteer Rick Lyon a few weeks ago. He was very nice to write back and share his memories of Richard:

"Nothing really to share that people don’t already know. He was immensely talented and funny, a born entertainer. He thrived on chaos and spontaneity, and was largely responsible for the atmosphere of fun on the set whenever he was working. He was especially kind to kids visiting the set. I still miss the texture of his performance in current Muppet projects – no one has ever been able to match his energy."

::sniff:: Yeah...

That's really cool, heralde!

"He was especially kind to kids visiting the set." And there's that one story Jerry told about Richard asking him to perform the Count for a group of kids - "Can you imagine the effect this has on a child's mind?"
Other actors, I imagine, would be annoyed at the presence of children on the set - but Richard, as we've seen time and time again, would immediately run over and give the kids a wholehearted welcome into the Muppet world. (and if the welcome involved spooking one of the adults, that made it all the more fun)
Like I said once, I'll bet that of the Muppet performers, Richard was one of the most popular with the children.

Absolutely, I do think adult actors who work with children have a certain responsibility. You don't have to be great with kids, not everyone is. But child actors are in a big scary world with all these experienced (and often bitter hehe) grown up professionals. They look to the adult actors for advice and most importantly support. I'm disgusted everytime I hear about a child actor developing problems because adult co-workers gave them a hard time.

And there's that one story Jerry told about Richard asking him to perform the Count for a group of kids - "Can you imagine the effect this has on a child's mind?"
As a child at least part of that time, I do feel rather flattered.
