Huh? The Wizard? Thought that was Storyteller singing, though of course, since I haven't watched my Season 1 and 2 sets I could definitely be wrong. Oh well...

It's ok  Yeah the "Is it True?" song is sung by the Wizard. The Storyteller is a girl and sings the Sir Blunderbrain song.

Oh, has anyone heard
"Mr. Bassman"?

Richard Hunt sings at his best in that clip as his alter ego Scooter!
He has a charming voice!
You should search the title on youtube.

It's a great piece of work!

Yup, I have heard Mr. Bassman, it is a great number. Richard has an amazing singing voice, I think people don't always realize that. They just take it for granted when they hear the characters (the same with Jim when he sang I think).

When I listen to Mr. Bassman, I feel like Scooter sounds a bit like Janice every now and then, which is nice cause it foreshadows Janice and Floyd's later duets. Lol

Sure, the Wizard's not exactly the most morally sound character in FR - but you can't help but like him a little bit. Sure, we're kind of biased, seeing as who's playing him down in the trenches, but you know how it is.

I've heard "Mr. Bassman." Great number; it's always cool to see Scooter get up and sing with the Mayhem.

Yes, Claudia, Richard does indeed have a charming voice - and he does do some of his best vocal work as Scooter. I've mentioned this once or twice, but during "Saying Goodbye" in TMTM, it was always Scooter's verse that really tugged at my heartstrings.

Oh yeah the Wizard's definitely a bit of a jerk, hehe. It's just the song that's admirable, lol. I always liked the ending when the Fraggles are crowded around him saying he played a horrible trick and doesn't he want to change. And he dryly says "Flattering with get you nowhere!" For some reason that's one of those scenes that I would have loved to see the puppeteers beneath.

I also love Scooter's verse the best, then Floyd's. Of course the whole song is such a heart breaker.

I know, it is - the whole song is so poignant, with everyone having to go their own ways. And to me, Scooter's voice, a gentle tenor, just sounded especially heart-tugging.

And then we have Richard and Scooter leading everyone off in "Just One Person" at Jim's memorial...

On a completely different topic, there's something I need to talk about here - I've just had a really crazy night. I've been hinting at the events related to this in the Muppet College Dorms, in a form that kind of mirrors real life. So here's the real thing.

The thing is, for the last week, I've been covering a series of student government meetings for my university's newspaper. It all concerns a controversial new constitution - has to do with how it's structured and how student groups can get funding. Yesterday, the senators said they were going to take time to review it properly - but tonight, they turned around and steamrolled it through in its current form. And people are really, really angry over it. And five minutes after adjournment, I'm in the paper's office hammering out a brand-new story for our web site, and the story's in the editor's hands a half-hour later.
It's really crazy - I've only just started reporting on campus politics, and already I'm caught up in a really hairy issue.

Wow Erin... Now that I know more, I can empathize with your plight. About three years ago, my university's student politics got to the worst it's gotten in my dozen years there. There were basically two groups, dividing the student body in halves. One group claimed the duely-elected body as their leaders, the other was backing someone else. But why the split you ask? Well, because of university union workers, each semester there's the threat blowing in the wind of the workers striking and the campus and classes having to shut down while the strike marches on to resolution. This instance I'm talking about, it got so bad that it divided the student body as aluded to above. What was the problem? Workers wanting better conditions in a new package again. And the weird thing is... Owing to the dueling student body political entities, the university was actually shut down for a whole month, gates barring entry, and yet the reason for which the campus was closed off was never achieved.
Go figure... Take care, sounds like you need a good long night's sleep.

Ouch - well, here it deals with how student groups will get their funding and a lot of other stuff. And this completely changes the student government here from a three-branch body to a one-branch, which has a lot of people upset.

It's all crazy, like I said. But then again, my screen name is Muppet Newsgirl, and I live up to it in real life. So there you go.

Thanks for the support...and I agree, I've earned the rest of the night off - besides, it's coming up on ten o'clock my time (U.S. EDT).

Wow, yes that does seem like a very serious situation, MN. Well, at least you know you have an active student government, even if it doesn't always make popular decisions. Some places, you barely know they're there, which is just as frustrating. Being a journalist is a good profession, so keep at it through all the turmoil.

I don't know, I've had to deal with a lot lately, and it's really getting me down. Though, I was reminded today of two things. That there are people a lot less fortunate than I am. And also, helping other people even with a small gesture, can go a long way in making them and you feel better.
