Yeah, that is weird! I know for me, whenever I am exposed to things I was afraid of when I was little, even though I'm not really afraid anymore, my first gut instinct is always a little twinge of fear mixed with whatever other emotion I'm feeling. It's sort of like an emotional memory, know what I mean? Sounds like you had the same thing at the museum. Awww, I love Beaker too! Probably my favorite Richard muppet, with Scooter coming in a close second!

Awww Sarah, I've already put some of my thaughts down in your other thread, but I would like to talk more directly. If you don't see this within the next couple of days, I'ml send you an e-mail. Awww heck, I just might send you one anyway. Just know that I'm finding it hard to sit idly by knowing the kind of trouble you're in!

Mariane, welcome back! My unofficial partner in crime! Say, while I remember it, and speaking of Beaker, do you remember saying a long time ago that you had written a paper for school on why Beaker is not as unintelegent as he looks? I know it's a longshot, but would you by any chance still have this? I'm sure we'd all love to see it, or at least know what it was about!

I definitely know what you mean! It's always been my experience when watching The Muppets, excitment mixed with a bit of fear, lol. But I'm glad that didn't stop me from enjoying them. I can see some people dismissing them, "Ugh, they're scary, I'm not watching!" But that's their whole message really, to learn not to judge something just because it's different, or even scary at first glance.

Yeah I don't think Beaker's all that dumb. A little too trusting maybe...

I'm sure we've all read the article that Chris Smigliano posted in the tribute section, the one about how he, as a high school kid, sent a long Beaker tribute letter (with artwork) to Richard, and got a thank-you phone call from Richard himself in response. That must have been so cool...

No, nor have I. I've mentioned earlier my avirsion to the Tributes section, because I didn't want to be faced with such sadness. But it sounds like there is quite a bit of fun and happyness there too!


Hehe, I don't think Beaker is too trusting of everyone; just loyal to a fault to Bunsen. Even though he knows what will inevitably happen, he still can't turn his back on his mentor.

There are some interesting tidbits in the articles section - for example, according to Gabriel Velez, at one of the Muppet workshops, one of the students was a professional juggler, who had brought his pins with him. At one point, Richard asked if he could borrow the pins, went up to the front and announced, "I'm now going to show you a juggler missing his partner." And so he starts to hurl the pins across the room and straight into the opposite wall, one at a time. Upon finishing, he repeats, "A juggler MISSING his partner."

He also mentions Richard's knack for making everyone howl with laughter during a season wrap party, and Terry Angus recalls his early days with Fraggle Rock, including that first audition, and Richard setting off a water fight on the set...the important stuff, you know.

The MC tribute page is where I first really learned about him, so I read the whole thing ages ago. It's not really all that sad, more of a celebration. It really ended up being the perfect introduction in my opinion. It covers his unique sense of humor and eagerness to teach co workers and reach out to fans. And also how individual fans remember him and his characters.

Yes Chris' tribute is one of my favorites. Gosh, I wish that could have been me! Hehe. And I love his drawing.

Oh, Lord, if I'd been a teenage Muppet fan getting an out-of-the-blue phone call from none other than Richard Hunt himself, I think I'd go completely nuts.

I'm fond of Chris's article too, and I like the one about Josh and his sister watching Fraggle Rock, while trying to make peanut butter-garlic popcorn (and getting PB splattered all over the ceiling).

And in retrospect, it is very interesting that Josh's sister is named Amanda, same as a certain Muppeteer's niece.

Yeah Josh's article is cute too. I saw that episode recently and immediately thought of that. I almost wish I'd known who he was when he died, like a lot of these people. But then again, it would have obviously been very sad.

I showed my friend Terry's article, the one about the Fraggle audition. Her reaction was, "Um...I think I'd be scared of him!" lol

It's like I said earlier, either in this thread or somewhere else: none of us knew (or even met) Richard while he was alive, yet we miss him as if he was our best friend.

And seeing as he performed so many favorite characters in TMS, SS and FR, in a way he actually was a best friend for many Muppet fans across the globe.
