"How did you find America?"
"Turned left at Greenland."

Jerry Nelson says Ringo probably would have consented to an appearance on TMS. I think George and Paul would have done so, too, but it's hard to say with John. But can you imagine what an episode of TMS starring at least one of the Beatles would have looked like?

"I'd like to keep Britain tidy."

I think Ringo would have been a great choice. I read that they might have gotten George to come, but they were so desperate to get Paul (heh, typical! lol). I think George would have been an excellent choice, he had a great sense of humor (plus I saw a photo of him once with a Kermit doll, lol).

John would have wanted Yoko to be with him on such an appearance. Not to get into all that but...yeah. Heh

"Are you a mod or a rocker?"
"No, I'm a mocker."

If a Beatle (or a few Beatles) appeared on the show, Scooter would be doing the 15 second standby call with great enthusiasm, the Mayhem would be practically bowing down on their knees and Miss Piggy would try to hit on one of the band (probably Paul). And naturally, considering the number of Beatles tunes covered on the show, it looks like Jim and the others were all great fans.

By the way - had a Muppet-related dream last night, and it was a good one. I was watching the 1986 Academy Awards - where Kermit and Scooter presented 'Best Animated Short' - but the way the camera was positioned, you could clearly see Jim and Richard kneeling behind the desk. (but it felt like I was standing down in front of the stage and seeing it live, instead of watching it on the tube)

It looks Scooter was nervously begging Richard to help him open the envelope, but eventually they turned it over to Jim, and as Jim started to open the envelope, he told Richard to stand up, and he did (and got a round of applause). And the two of them read the winner's name together.

Remainder of the dream is a tad fuzzy, but I think both Muppets and performers bowed before exiting the stage.

"Has success changed your life?"
"Yes."

Ohh yeah, that's what should have happened, hehe! If I recall, in the real footage you can see the top of Jim's head a few times. I kept wishing there was more to see, lol.

And yeah Piggy would have been gaga over Paul, lol. Though, George was always MY cute Beatle.

I had a freaky Richard-character dream the other night. I was in school and both Bunsen and Beaker were in my class. And in the context of the dream, I had dated both of them at different times (I told you it was freaky!). At one point, Beaker turned around to look at me in class, lol, and I was sort of afraid of him (like how I was a kid). But he smiled at me (which was interesting since normally he can't do that), and I felt a little better and smiled back. Aww, rather nice.

"What do you call that hairdo?"
"Arthur."

That's right, the audience should have been allowed to see Richard as well as Jim...although in my dream, Richard seemed a little surprised that he was being asked to stand up.

To tell the truth, in that one photo, Kermit and Scooter look quite cheerful, but Jim and Richard both seem kind of fatigued. 'Course, when you think about it, the press conference would have been close to midnight, Pacific time, but Jim and Richard's internal clocks would have still been on Eastern standard - three in the morning.

I've kind of shifted position on which Beatle is my favorite - I appear to have ultimately settled on George. Many of my favorite Beatles tunes are the ones that he did, and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar.

So you dated both Bunsen and Beaker - you're right, that is freaky.

That's so coll that you learned to play guitar, Erin!

That is an interesting dream. It's funny, because I've noticed that a lot too where you see a look on a muppeteers face and a totally different on on the performers. A puppet could be up set or annoyed and the puppeteer could be really happy preforming it. I've see this look poetically with Caroll Spinney and Oscar. And like you said, they could look kind of tired or out of it, but the performance is 100%...how you might be feeling on a particular day doesn't affect how the puppet is feeling. That's the great thing about puppets VS performing. Also, you could roll out of bed on any given day, hair a mess and all and come to work and not worry as much about physical appearances as your not the own who's on screen, LOL!

"Do you often see your father?"
"No actually, we're just good friends."

I imagine those post-awards photo sessions are pretty tedious. You have to just stand there while people snap photos at you. And they hadn't won anything, so no one was supposed to talk to them (though I would have anyway! Hehe)

Yeah George has always been my favorite, and nowadays a lot of people are going with him. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is my favorite song of his. It was so appropriate for him as a guitarist. I play guitar a little bit too though not for awhile; I was very happy when I learned to play his solo from "And I Love Her" lol.

Yeah it was definitely a freaky dream, I've never even liked Bunsen! (Which probably explains why he's not really in the dream too much!). Well that's not true, I liked him on Muppet Babies. lol Anyway, as far as Beaker went it was rather comforting. (though this smiley doesn't really convey that!)

Yeah that's true, you don't have to worry about your appearance much as a puppeteer, unlike most actors. Must be a relief.

"Do I snore?"
"Yeah, you're a real window-rattler."

I certainly wouldn't like having to stand there for photos - heck, one of them probably just got blinded by the flash on someone's camera.

It's true, puppeteers aren't judged by their appearance as much as on-camera actors, and that gives them more time to concentrate on their job. And I think we can all agree that artists who are dedicated to their work are far more attractive than people who only want to look pretty for the photographers.

Thought I'd bring this up: in our yard, Mom and I have started a small plot of peonies. We planted four of them this morning, and we're going to put in at least two more. And in Richard's honor, we're going to give the plants the names of characters that he played - the three smaller ones, it looks like are probably going to be Scooter, Janice and Beaker, and the larger ones will be Statler, Sweetums and...we'll have to decide on number 6.
