I know...he certainly sounds like the eager-eyed kid in that conversation. "...and I think they liked me!"

And about 12, 13 years after her son appears as an assistant on the Ed Sullivan Show, Jane gets drawn into the Muppet antics during TMTM. I'm willing to bet Richard just called her up one day and asked, "Hey, Mom, you want to be in our next movie?"

Loved the Sullivan clip...and I take it Richard was the blue-skinned violinist on the left, Jerry was the first violin and Frank was the double bassist. And that was a really bad joke about "violins" on television.

I love all of those movies! But TTT was so differnt from ROTK! But I had no idea you typed on LOR messageg board.

We cam forgive that. We can easily accept that as not giving anything away! But wow! That series justs gkept getting better with time!

Haha, that was a great Ed Sullivan preformance! And Jm had such control in all the chaos he was creating!

By the way Erin, didn't Jane used to assist Erine's right hand in the very earily days.

I think that was a different Jane, Jim's wife. The other Jane (Richard's mum) appeared in the chaotic cafe scene in TMTM, but I think that's her only active participation in the Muppet productions. The rest of the time she was the loyal fan and one of the team moms.

It went well...only one class today, and that professor taught the class wearing an Easter bunny suit. For details see the "What Made You Smile Today" thread. (snicker)

I noticed that you could play the Ed Sullivan sketch on a show today, and it would still get lots of laughs. It's timeless enough...and it's got all the correct Muppet characteristics - especially how a discreet, cultured sketch decays into abject (Henson-style) anarchy.

Yeah I think the sketch would go over well today. Things don't really change that much over time, we just think they do. The idea of the uptight old school clashing with the young hip guy has always been around, and will likely continue to be. Although a lot of people today may not understand the whole "Hut Sut Ralston" thing (I had to look it up myself).

I'd have to look it up, too. Then again, people today might simply mistake it for a catchy little tidbit of scat singing.

That joke about "violins on television" was awful. Liked the way Richard had his puppet turn slowly toward the camera with a wincing grimace on its face...during the first run-through, that's probably what the humans down below did when they heard the joke.

Yeah I've heard versions of the violins/violence joke before, it's definitely a groaner!

Yeah I love Richard's puppet's reaction too. Another favorite part is when Mahna Mahna (or whatever his name was at the time!) comes in saying "Yeah same to you, lady! And also when Frank's character says "I don't get it..." Lol
