What a relief; someone thinks like me! Like I said before though, it shouldn't really be a big deal, and I don't know why I never considered it a possibility before.
On a lighter note, I find it a bit amusing that it is potentially only because of Richard's night on the town that we have Elmo to this day!

Well yeah, it may not be the smartest thing in the whole wide world to do. But, as with most things like that, it sure makes for an interesting and entertaining story!

I was a little nervous about posting the hangover part too, but then I realized it wasn't actually that bad of a thing. Lots of people get hangovers. It's actually quite comical to be stuck with a hangover and have to perform a chicken.

No Richard dreams. I had woke up every four hours and yelled silently at him (half asleep) and then fell back asleep. I ended up with three Non-Richard dreams. However, the last one had Johnny Depp teaching our gym class. He's SO COOL. :stick_out_tongue:

lol Speak for yourself; I'm sure the other muppeteers didn't find it so amusing! It's funny to think though how stunned Kevin must have been on that fateful day! Here they are, last minute, and he just gets a brand-new, unexpect, and for the sake of the skit, very important job!
*eek* I wonder if it was just the hang-over talking, (wait, how can hang-overs talk), or if Richard actually disliked Elmo. I'd love to hear Richard preform Elmo. Does anyone know of any particular skits online?

Well, Richard doesn't seem like the type who would like the cutesy Elmo. He'd probably be sneaking in all sorts of obscure "references". However, if you had a hangover you probably wouldn't want to perform such a high-pitched colorful thing.

Yeah, I see what you mean about the overall brightness of Elmo.
You know, at first I thaught Richard's muppets were cute, but then I did a run-down of some of his most major ones.
Scooter, asomewhat cute at first thaught, but then I realized he has a deveous side.
Janice, definately not!
Sweedoms, dido
Beaker, cuteness was seemingly an accident.
I guess I see what you mean about that, too.

Yeah, there's a bit of an edge to him, and to his muppets as well. (I'm not totally sure if "edge" is the right word... but I'm sure you guys know what I mean). And I personally really like that. If they're too, too cute, it's not as fun. Crazy, or devious, characters like he had keep things interesting. And just like him... I feel like I don't know quite as much about him yet as I wish I did, but as I see it, he was crazy, did what he liked to do, and just set out to have fun. I love that.

Kevin Clash has deviated a little bit with Elmo. Not really on Sesame Street, but at Muppetfest? Whew. He was being kind of impolite, all in good nature, like once he said "Ex-cuuuse Elmo" and once answered something with an indignant "BECAUSE". And Kevin kept making him get these little obscenities out of people. It was funny. Kind of like Kermit on the Daily Show, if ya saw that. Wow. Stevie's definitely deviating with him too, if I may stray from the subject for a bit. Like that little part of Muppets 3-D where he comes out of the newly vacuumed Muppet Labs and says "Looks like the stage has been really sucked up". I was the only one who seemed to get that, AKA the only one giggling stupidly in the corner.

But yeah, Richard certainly kept things interesting with his characters. There kept being these new sides to them, especially Scooter who had a cute little dark side revealed every once and a while.
