For me personally, I'm not against Kami coming the U.S.'s Sesame Street. But, while I think she's serving a good purpose in South Africa, I just think she wouldn't make as much sense over here.

The U.S. has an AIDS problem, but no where near South Africa. Like they said in the documentary, in South Africa you assume someone has HIV until you know they don't. That's not our situation. Plus, we can better control the virus in the U.S. nowadays (obviously it would be better if we could get rid of it forever).

I don't want to upset anyone or anything. Like I said, I appreciate the character for addressing the situation. It took a lot of guts on the part of the Sesame Workshop.

No problem. As long as you're respectful, which unfortunately not enough people are, then I enjoy hearing people's honest oppinion.
I disagree that she would serve no purpose here, but I do think that she is more a part of the African culture. I also was excited to see her for the first time, and was mildly surprised to hear her talk about her mother dying of AIDS so plainly.

Thanks, Fragglemuppets, I was a little worried about being misunderstood. And you're right, debates go a lot easier if everyone is respectful.

I'm glad Kami spoke about it so plainly, that's the reality. It gives the show depth and provides a bit of hope, rather than pretending the problems don't exist.

I think if they were to discuss AIDS in the U.S. show, it would have to reflect our own situation. Don't ask me how, I don't work for the company, just speculating!

Hello everybody. I just wanted to drop in and say hello to the club before I head off for a week early Saturday morning to be with Mummy while she has her radium. And I brought a special guest.

Bill: Hi there. It's good to be here.
Martin: Glad you could come to meet the folk Bill.
Bill: Yeah. I hope you are all keeping in good health. Isn't it great that Martin's mother is responding to treatment superbly?
Martin: Yes it is. Our prayers really are being answered. You are such a good support to me as well Bill.
Bill: Aw it's nothing Martin. Ever since you introduced me to your faith while we were living in the dorms I count it my privelege to give you spiritual support in your concerns through my bubbles.
Martin: Thank you Bill. Let's blow some bubbles now asking for a safe trip by train for me and for Mummy to continue to do well with her radium. I've got my bubble wand.
Bill: I'm ready too. I'm sure the RHLC will be thoroughly entertained by our bubbles as well.

bubbles fill up the entire clubhouse

Martin: Well thank you all. I'll talk to you again sometime and tell you how the trip went. So long.
Bill: Good-bye. Take care of yourselves.

(comes in, popping a few bubbles with her finger as she goes)

Glad to hear your mum's doing well, Marty.

Like I said, it'd be nice if Sesame Street in the U.S. did something about AIDS. After all, that's how they lost one of their best and brightest.

Oh, quilt update: This weekend, we're going to put the rest of Sweetums on, get going on Scooter, Janice and Beaker and do the date and epitaph panels. Mom's told her co-workers at the clinic what we're up to, and they all want to see it too.

While I'm at it: I had a Richard dream a couple of nights ago. It's on the set of the Muppet Show, and I'm looking at a close-up shot of Scooter sitting on a wall, singing something. And you can plainly see the top of Richard's head and his eyes behind Scooter. Later on, I saw Richard just hanging around with the other Muppeteers in between tapings.

I get what you're saying. Like I said, if it was discussed in U.S.'s Sesame Street, it would have to more reflect our own situation.

The quilt sounds more and more ambitious, hope you have a good time making it and can't wait to see it!

Yay, the entire clip of Don Music's "Mary Had a Bicycle" has finally been posted!

(Before, only the first few seconds was online)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=v3FtoAyt28s

My favorite part is when Don says to poor Kermit, "I'll never get it! Never! You won't help!" lol

This other clip's old but really good too. Richard's the librarian having to put up with Cookie Monster's one track mind...

There are a few others I should put up, but they can wait, we need things to do!

Glad you liked them, ilikemuppets! And glad you remembered them too. I used to think I watched Sesame Street as a child. Now I'm not sure since there is so much I've never seen before!

That librarian sketch, I don't know why but I was laughing out loud the whole time, lol "THAT'S RIGHT! NO COOKIES!!!"

Though I'd mention Frank Oz too, he's so good with his characters. He adds all these little details and just goes for it.
