Thanks, will keep that in mind if I should wander there in search of some rare clips.

Time to bump this thread up...and drop a bomb.

Ya know how I said I was keeping my big project under wraps until November at least?

I lied.

I just spoke with the project's co-creator (also known as my mother). We agreed to let the secret out ahead of time.

We're making an AIDS Quilt panel for Richard Hunt.

That's really nice, MN. And great that you get to do it with your Mother!

Wow, that is a wonderful and beautiful thing you're doing. Even more beautiful, is the fact that you can share the experience with your mother! So, can you tell us a little more about it, or is it too soon?

Here's the scoop:

We've been working on it for about a month. It was the day that one of the campus ministry groups brought in a piece of the AIDS Quilt to put on display, and that night, I was scheduled to go to a rock concert with my family. On our way to a Chinese place for dinner before the show, as I was chatting about seeing the quilt, Mom asked, point blank, "You want to do an AIDS panel for Richard Hunt?" And after a few seconds of deliberation, I said, "Sure!"
This was back in September, and we've been working on it for about a month now, working out the design and putting the basic structure together.

I think I can spill a bit more about what it's going to look like. It'll have a green background and orange border. At the edges, we've got red Muppet Theater-type curtains, and we're going to have Scooter, Janice, Beaker and Sweetums peering out from behind them (and Statler poking his head up from below). In the middle, we'll have a few panels with Richard's name, occupation, birth and death dates and all that, and a bunch of smaller panels holding the names of eight of his characters.

I like the idea of them peering out of the curtain, very creative. Have you and your Mom ever made a quilt like that before?

I haven't, but Mom's done sewing kind of like this before. First time we've ever tried doing an AIDS Quilt panel, though.
