Tonight make plans to watch "The Muppets" new episode "Swine Song" at 8:30|7:30c on ABC. Then join the discussion immediately afterwards in the Muppet Central Forum.

Episode 11 - Swine Song

The "Up Late" crew returns from hiatus and everyone is rested and ready to get back to work, but their good vibes are short-lived when a branding specialist arrives and tries to fix what isn't broken.

I loved this 'reboot' episode.

Gloria was absolutely adorable, especially with Uncle Deadly. I also enjoyed the new ending to the intro with Piggy handing Kermit a coffee. I'm looking forward to more skits, like Veterinarian Hospital I think is coming back.

And I don't really care with what happened between Kermit and Denise. It was bound to happen anyway.

Overall it is definitely one of the better episodes this season.

Thought it was a solid episode. It did seem heavy-handed with the branding consultant making suggestions and then Kermit saying the show needed more joy, like the remaining writing staff really felt like they needed to make the point of "hey, the old showrunner wanted us to do things this way, now look, we're going to change". Suppose I can't blame them for trying to make the point after the bad publicity of the show's earlier episodes, but hopefully they won't hammer this point home so explicitly in the future.

I did like Pepe's bit in the car, especially insisting the passenger was Edward James Olmos. I'd love to see more things like that in each of the upcoming episodes. Also interested to see where they go with Denise/Kermit/Piggy, as they've invested so much time in the relationship it would be anti-climactic to have her drop off the show after this episode.

All told, I'm excited for next week when the show should have its legs under it (again).

Here rate my Favorite Moments from "Swine Song"

- The Muppets doing TMS Theme Song in the Meeting Room

- Pepe's Über Driver sketch

- Bobo's Poetry

- Kermit & Piggy's "In Spite of Ourselves" number

The series just keeps getting Better!!!

Hi, just gonna post here, let this fall where it may with other peoples ziffling me with their thoughts.

After watching the episode, I have two main big picture take-aways.
1 Remember that whole "meta" feeling we got when we learned about :fanatic: being the central focus of the 2011 movie, and how it was him as the uber-fan representing all of us other fans? With this episode I got that feeling again, the "meta"-ness of how the Muppets are retooling the show within a show known as Up Late with Piggy after our own thoughts regarding the first few episodes that aired back in September 2015.
2 We all recognized that the Kermit+Piggy brake-up was nothing more than a sham and they'd eventually get back together again again. The writing's been on the wall for months regarding that plotpoint. Tonight brought the first brick lobbed at bringing that wall crashing down with the musical number sung by Kermit and Piggy after that branding jerk sabotaged the show by stealing away the guest stars. I'll address both of those after finishing this. As for the main brake-up, even :shifty: and  noticed what was happening... Leading to Denise unhappily saying that she need some time to think about things, those things being the relationship between her and Kermit. It makes me a bit sad because this kind of shows that Denise was destined to be nothing more than a disposable character when she could be better utilized within the Muppet repertoire.

Other thoughts.
That branding guru jerk. Yeah, I knew I was right not trusting when everything had to be branded as "Presented by PiggyWater" back in Episode 109.
The guest stars, I'm not familiar with these peoples... And if they make a couple backstage appearances, to be stolen away by the antagonist Pashé (Pizza?), then what purpose did they ultimately serve? So yeah, it was essentially a throw-away non-guest star moment.

Hey, we went a whole show without a Scooter's mother reference or joke!
I said I wanted to see the puppets created to fit the roles of :concern:'s and 's mothers as mentioned on this show, but the one new Muppet I rully rully want to now make an appearance is Uncle Deadly's own dragon mom.
BTW: UD stole the show with his interactions with Gloria Estefan, :zany:'s new cousin.
BTW2: I sooo want to hear Uncle D's dramatic reading of either Madame Leota's séance from Disney's Haunted Mansion or the original poem version of TNBC.

Can already hear some of the prominent posters here about how this episode was filled with jokes and references that will be dated in just another year from now.
Pepe picking up chicks in the Uber Driver van.
Bobo's dramatic reading of a transcript from an episode of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
Lew's joke about Cirque du Filet was amusant.
Rowlf's non-sequitor joke about being a puppy in the house where all the single ladies from The Bachelor are housed.
BTW3: Whenever :sympathy: is in a scene, I hear Bill's gravely voice and think it's Bobo at first. Then the scene keeps going and either because of the setting or the dog-based humor I realize it's Rowlf instead.

Also liked when the Mayhem did a riffy version of the Muppet Show's theme song. Kind of surprised they said they liked it, since it was originally said to be insulting as incredibly square to :sing:, I mean John Q. Public.

So kind of a six of one, half a dozen of another effort, I'm intrigued to see where the show goes from here.

Yeah. I know what you mean. It was sad, but if  and  are bound to get back together, they sort of need to get her out of the way. Still it would be nice to see her in future Muppet productions in another type of role or something. Just something to think about.

Yeah. It would be nice to see him be more of the go-fer character that he was on TMS. I'm still hoping for a J.P. Groose reference at some point.

BTW, was I the only one who noticed they modified the opening with Piggy saying "Oh, Kermie" and Kermit's "Get things started" line sounded like it was re-recorded? Just thought I'd bring that up.

Actually, yes, I noticed Kermit's "Time to get things started" was more upbeat than it's been for the first ten episodes of the series.

This feels like they are going to move the show in the right direction.

I loved it! Key and Peele were great in this and I haven't even watched their show! Not sure how I feel about Piggy's Miley Cyrus costume bit, but it got a chuckle from me. Pepe's video skit was great, I hope they do more like these in the future! Bobo's poetry, priceless! Poor Denise though, however it does look like Kermit and Piggy are mending their relationship somewhat.

Definitely looking forward to more in the coming weeks!
