I agree that Saying Goodbye is really sad, but I think Fozzie's singing was saddest. I also hate Tiny Tim's death and the Love is Gone from Muppet Christmas Carol, and the Friendship Song is very sad for something from a Henson Production. Really, most people think Muppets were light hearted and silly the whole time. We know the truth though.

Yes my friend told me that in 4th grade, and I was thinking in my mind "not if you saw the Muppet Show particulary the first season". This was before family shows had to be happy to a fault. Would they get away with Fraggle episodes like Gone But Not Forgotten today? I'm afraid not. That's part of the reason four year olds are very confused when a pet or relative dies. True they made a Sesame special called When Families Grieve, but they chose a character we never met. You grow to love Mudwell Mudbunny and Mr. Hooper (I assume because I never got to know him), so children will learn that it can happen to even their best friends. It's a sad message, but it's better to teach with Muppets, because they show children it's best to remember fun times with your friend or relative.

Yeah. I love music in general. The other one that gets to me and it's a happy song is Follow Me and Let Me Be Your Song [probably because they remind me of when I was little] I'm a Junior in H.S. now and it's like watching all these DVD copies of re-runs I had on VHS as a kid is surreal for me.
I can't imagine how it is for people who watched it when the show actually ran! I mean I'm just a kid compared to them and I still have my own memories of stuff.

This thread is what made me join the forum. I only read until I cried, so needless to say, I didn't read much. I'm a baby when it comes to Jim Henson. But anyway, I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it earlier in the thread, but Ernie's song "I Don't Want To Live On the Moon" gets me so sentimental. Not just because of the purity of the character or the simplicity of what he's saying, but how I can relate and so can many others. It's not a song about simply not wanting to live on the moon. It's about growing up. Having to put childish things behind. Leaving the things and people and places you love and it makes me think about how it needs to happen eventually. It makes me scared. Scared because while I don't know where I'm going in life. This song is ... humbling for me. It helps me. I hope this song effects you in your own way too.

I totally understand what you mean. For me though it's one character that gets to me that way. Wembly. I really understand him at this point in my life. I don't want to decide and yet I know I have to. What I decide to do now affects me forever and affects my siblings forever. I don't want to leave my friends or my home behind for college but if I find a college that really meets the needs of what I want to do I'm going to want to leave but I won't.

30 minute work week sorta is getting to me now. I'll watch it to remind myself I'm getting close to that point in life and I'll hug my little Wembly doll close at night and cry sometimes while I draw or read. I hold close to my art and remind myself that's who I am supposed to be. To remind myself that I don't have to wemble I know who I am and what I want . . . I just am so like him. I want to please everyone.
So, watching Wembly reminds me that we both know what we want it's just getting it that's the hard part. Sometimes it's nice. It's nice to have a kindred spirit even if it is a puppet, if you follow me.
